Director - Energy Transition, Business Development, and Partnerships

Eaton’s Electrical Sector North America is seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to serve as the Director of Energy Transition, Business Development, and Partnerships. This role will be instrumental in expanding Eaton’s presence in the energy transition ecosystem by identifying, cultivating, and executing strategic partnerships and business development initiatives. A key focus of this role is to build solution selling as a core organizational capability, enabling Eaton to deliver integrated, customer-centric energy solutions across energy generation, transportation electrification, distributed energy, and the home / building energy management domains.
This role will be responsible for developing the critical executive down to working team partnerships that enable Eaton to maximize its total addressable market—estimated at over $7B in solar, $4.5B in utility-scale battery systems, and $15–$20B in nuclear through 2050—while ensuring alignment with enterprise objectives, including the goal to reach $38B in revenue by 2030.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $141,000 - $206,800 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program. Please note the salary information above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
This position is fully remote and may require up to 25% travel in the US. Relocation and Sponsorship or not available for this role.
**What you’ll do:**
**Strategic Business Development**
+ Identify and evaluate new business opportunities aligned with Eaton’s energy transition strategy.
+ Lead the development of go-to-market strategies for emerging energy solutions, including solar, battery storage, EV infrastructure, and Energy-as-a-Service (EaaS).
+ Expand Eaton’s reach into new customer segments, channels, and ecosystems.
**Partnerships & Ecosystem Engagement**
+ Cultivate and manage strategic alliances with key players in the energy transition space (e.g., technology providers, distribution channels, value added resellers, utilities, developers, and startups).
+ Structure and negotiate joint ventures, co-creation initiatives, and commercial agreements that drive mutual value.
+ Represent Eaton in industry forums and collaborative innovation networks.
**Solution Selling Capability Development**
+ Build and institutionalize solution selling as a function across the Electrical Sector.
+ Develop tools, training, and processes to enable sales teams to deliver bundled, outcome-based energy solutions.
+ Collaborate with product, marketing, and engineering teams to align offerings with customer needs and market trends.
**Cross-Functional Collaboration**
+ Work closely with the Director of Energy Transition Growth to align business development efforts with strategic priorities.
+ Partner with the New Venture Incubation team to support commercialization of new ventures and pilot programs.
+ Coordinate with finance, legal, and operations to ensure scalable and compliant execution of partnership models.
**Qualifications:**
**Basic (required) Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or related field from an accredited university.
+ Twelve years of experience in business development, partnerships, or commercial strategy within the energy, cleantech, or industrial technology industries.
+ Ability to travel up to 25%.
+ Proven track record of building strategic alliances and launching new business models.
+ Strong understanding of energy transition trends, including DERs, electrification, and grid modernization.
+ Experience developing and scaling solution selling capabilities.

**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ MBA or advanced degree in engineering or related field from an accredited university.
