We are seeking a highly experienced and visionary Director of Data Science and Automation to lead our Data Science professionals and Digital Intelligent Automation teams. This role will be instrumental in defining and executing the overall Data Science and automation strategy, leading high-performing teams, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and reliable implementation of business use cases.
Director of Data Science will lead and innovate within our data science organization. This role will drive thought leadership, customer engagement, and cutting-edge AI/ML solutions including GenAI and Agentic AI solutions while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver measurable business impact. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data science, supply chain/logistics expertise, and a passion for solving complex problems through innovative approaches.
What Data Science contributes to Cardinal Health
The Data & Analytics Function oversees the analytics lifecycle in order to identify, analyze and present relevant insights that drive business decisions and anticipate opportunities to achieve a competitive advantage. This function manages analytic data platforms, the access, design and implementation of reporting/business intelligence solutions, and the application of advanced quantitative modeling.
Data Science applies base, scientific methodologies from various disciplines, techniques and tools that extracts knowledge and insight from data to solve complex business problems on large data sets, integrating multiple systems.
What We Are Looking For:
Education: Masters or PhD in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required.

Roadmap Input & New Data Science Approaches
Provide strategic input into the data science roadmap to align with Cardinal Health long-term goals.Explore and implement new data science methodologies and generative AI techniques to enhance product offerings.Thought Leadership Collateral
Develop whitepapers, case studies, and presentations showcasing our data science capabilities.Represent Cardinal Health at conferences, webinars, and industry events to establish thought leadership in AI/ML.Digital Solutions Partnerships & Proof of Concepts (POCs)
Partner with digital partner teams to demonstrate the value of AI solutions to business units through POCs and technical deep dives.
Data Science Projects
Will play a player-coach role, code when needed and lead the execution of high-impact data science projects from ideation to deployment, ensuring alignment with business objectives.Oversee the development of scalable AI/ML models and prototypes that enhance operational efficiency and decision-making for business.Mentor and guide a team of data scientists to achieve technical excellence and foster innovation.Candidates who are back-to-work, people with disabilities, without a college degree, and Veterans are encouraged to apply.
