The Director Consulting Expert (DCE) is a Senior Service Design leader who guides the delivery of complex digital and organisational transformation programmes using GDS and DDaT service design standards. They shape service, experience and organisational strategies that meet user needs, operational realities and business goals. you will guide complex digital and organisational transformation programmes, influencing strategy at the highest levels and turning human-centred insight into measurable outcomes. You will help clients navigate change with confidence, strengthen CGI’s reputation for high-quality delivery, and play a pivotal role in growing our service design capability and market presence.

Due to the secure nature of the programme, you will need to hold UK Security Clearance or be eligible to go through this clearance. This is a hybrid position.
In this role, you will lead complex service design engagements across digital and organisational transformation programmes, ensuring services meet user needs, operational realities and strategic goals. You will work closely with senior client stakeholders as a trusted advisor, shaping service, experience and organisational strategies that deliver measurable impact while meeting GDS, DDaT and accessibility standards.
You will also play a key role in strengthening service design maturity across CGI. This includes guiding teams through high-quality delivery, supporting business development activity, and helping position service design as a critical driver of long-term value, efficiency and risk reduction for our clients.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead & Advise on end-to-end service design for complex, multi-team programmes
- Shape Strategy that aligns user needs, organisational goals and operational constraints
- Influence & Align senior stakeholders across client and internal environments
- Champion Quality through design reviews, coaching and standards assurance
- Grow Capability by contributing to communities of practice, mentoring and shared learning
- Support Growth through opportunity identification, proposals and solution design
You will bring deep expertise in human-centred service design and a strong track record of leading complex transformation programmes. You are confident operating at senior levels, combining strategic thinking with hands-on delivery, and are able to clearly articulate the value of service design in driving sustainable outcomes.
You should demonstrate:
- Extensive experience leading service design within large-scale digital or organisational transformation
- Strong knowledge of GDS Service Standard, DDaT practice and inclusive design principles
- Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and act as a trusted advisor
- Experience integrating service design with research, content, technology, policy and operations
- A track record of contributing to proposals, bids and business development activity
