Join PwC Ireland's Government & Public Sector Consulting practice, to help reimagine public services and deliver better outcomes for citizens. As a Director you will play a pivotal role in driving business growth and shaping the strategic direction of PwC's G&PS practice. You will lead complex programmes that build public trust and deliver lasting improvements across the public sector. You will bring deep knowledge of Ireland's public sector and political context, exceptional stakeholder leadership, and a proven record of successful delivery in complex, matrixed environments.

Purpose-Led Work You'll Be Part Of 

As a Director, you will leverage your influence, expertise and network to deliver quality results for Public Sector clients while driving business growth for PwC's Government & Public Sector team. You will: 

Business Development & Growth 

Lead sector and account growth within G&PS go-to-market strategies 

Identify, develop and convert new business opportunities in key accounts  

Lead end to end business development cycle, including proposal development and client pitches for major government contracts 

Achieve annual business development and managed revenue targets 

Expand PwC's presence across priority subsectors, including Transport, Housing and wider government sectors 

 

Client & Delivery Leadership 

Lead, and have overall accountability for, large-scale transformation programmes across government and public sector clients 

Oversee the development and implementation of future-state operating models, organisational structures, and workforce strategies 

Ensure delivery of high-quality outputs aligned to client expectations, project goals and PwC standards 

Apply and champion project management and change management methodologies across transformation initiatives 

Collaborate with clients to co-create solutions that address complex organisational challenges 

Drive benefits realisation and sustained value creation across engagements 

 

Stakeholder & Relationship Management 

Build and maintain strong relationships with senior government stakeholders and decision-makers 

Anticipate stakeholder needs, developing and discussing potential solutions pre-emptively 

Navigate political and operational complexities with confidence and credibility 

Facilitate stakeholder engagement at the most senior levels 

 

Team Leadership & Development 

Lead, mentor, and develop teams of Senior Managers and Managers  

Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching and feedback 

Foster an inclusive and collaborative team environment 

Recruit and retain top talent with public sector expertise 

Contribute to the overall capability development of the G&PS practice 

Your Profile 

Required 

A recognised University Degree with 10+ years' experience in management consulting or senior public sector roles, particularly in the Transport, Housing or wider government sectors 

A strong track record in business development, client relationship management and winning major government contracts 

Strong commercial acumen with demonstrated ability to identify, shape, and convert business development opportunities 

Deep understanding of two or more of the following capabilities: Operating Model Design, Public Sector Procurement, Transformation Delivery, Programme Management or Change Management 

Comprehensive knowledge of the challenges facing Irish government and public sector organisations 

Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience navigating political and operational complexities at senior levels 

Proven leadership experience managing and developing diverse, high-performing teams 

 

Preferred 

Master's degree, MBA or relevant professional qualification 

Existing network of senior relationships across Irish government and public sector 

Experience delivering complex transformation programmes
