JOB OVERVIEW 

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a strategic, results-driven Director, Commercial to join our team. In this leadership role, you’ll play a critical part in shaping and managing the commercial frameworks that support major nuclear and renewable generation projects. You will lead the development of contract strategies, oversee the procurement lifecycle, and manage ongoing vendor relationships to ensure contract performance, compliance, and value delivery.

 

 

This position offers a unique opportunity to drive commercial excellence within a complex, high-stakes environment, while leading a team of professionals who support delivery of OPG’s most strategic initiatives.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES 

Lead the development and approval of contract strategies for large-scale, complex nuclear projects. Oversee the full lifecycle of commercial contracts, including negotiation, execution, change management, compliance, dispute resolution, and audits. Manage key vendor relationships, ensuring service providers consistently meet or exceed expectations and contractual obligations. Act as a strategic partner to project teams and business units, promoting effective contract integration and value creation. Monitor supplier performance against contractual commitments and implement corrective actions as required. Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to optimize contract structures, improve service delivery, and reduce risk. Ensure alignment with corporate goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements across all aspects of contract management. Lead, coach, and mentor a high-performing team of contract management professionals to build capability and ensure execution excellence.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Law, Science, or Business. MBA and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is an asset. Proven experience managing commercial contracts in construction, EPC, or energy industries, including negotiation, vendor oversight, and dispute resolution. Demonstrated experience leading teams and managing people effectively. Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills. Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. A track record of delivering business value through commercial innovation and operational excellence. A commitment to upholding OPG’s values, fostering collaboration, and delivering results.

This position is moving to OPG Corporate Headquarters: In Summer 2025, OPG will officially welcome employees to our new Corporate Headquarters located at 1908 Colonel Sam Drive, Oshawa, Ontario. This position will be temporarily based in Courtice, ON until the move to Headquarters in the Summer of 2025.

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods.
