The Global Merchant & Network Services (GMNS) organization is responsible for managing relationships with millions of Merchants and Partners around the world that facilitate American Express acceptance and enabling the day-to-day operations of our company’s payment network.
The role of the Global Merchant & Network Pricing (GMNP) team is to design and implement global pricing strategies that support our coverage objectives and optimize our Discount Revenue. This revenue stream is the single largest source of American Express’ revenue and Merchant Pricing strategies play a key role in driving financial performance.
The Director Assistant will report directly to the Senior Vice President and serve as a key member of the GMNP Leadership team. This Director will act as the Chief of Staff supporting strategic planning, executive communications, and organizational needs for a team of 120+ colleagues based in the Americas, EMEA and APAC regions. The Director will work closely with key business partners across multiple teams within GMNS and with other staff groups such as Colleague Experience Group (CEG), Finance, and General Counsel Organization (GCO). This role is ideal for someone with the ability to establish collaborative partnerships, balance multiple projects simultaneously, while immersing themselves in the complexity of the business.
Key Responsibilities
Partner with the office of the GMNS President and act as a central point of contact for high priority business initiatives, information requests and updates
Take full responsibility of strategic projects and processes supporting the GMNP team and its priorities
Lead GMNS Pricing processes for key activities such as annual goal setting, scorecard management, development planning, talent assessments, OPEX management, and compliance requirements
Own the execution of strategies and initiatives to drive Colleague Engagement
Build internal and external organizational communications through a variety of channels including memos and announcements
Lead the development of the Global Merchant & Network Pricing OPEX Plan (Investment Planning) by identifying and prioritizing investments to drive growth
Coordinate with GMNP Leadership to formulate relevant discussion topics and agendas for the bi-weekly Leadership Team meetings
Run meeting content and presentations, including updates to senior business leaders, Town Halls, and regular business partner reviews. Emphasis on crafting effective and impactful presentations to summarize complex ideas and recommendations
Attend domestic and international market visits and document the outcomes
Required Qualifications:
Demonstrated critical thinking and analytical skills, ideally with experience in strategic analysis, consulting, finance, and communication related roles
Outstanding project management skills and ability to lead projects autonomously with minimal direction
Recognized for great follow-through and attention to detail
Strong drive and high personal accountability to deliver results within tight timeframes; ability to prioritize effectively when faced with changing priorities
Superior written and verbal communication skills, including advanced skills in MS Office and an ability to storyboard presentations
Excellent relationship and influencing skills for dealing with a wide range of challenges and colleagues at different levels; Proven track record of navigating effectively and efficiently within American Express
Calm under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Salary Range: $123,000.00 to $215,250.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefits
