DIRECTOR APPLICATIONS, DATA & ARCHITECTURE
Job Description The mission of the New York City Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in New York City by working in partnership with the community to enforce the law, preserve peace, protect the people, reduce fear, and maintain order. The NYPD strives to foster a safe and fair city by incorporating Neighborhood Policing into all facets of Department operations and solve the problems that create crime and disorder through an interdependent relationship between the people and its police, and by pioneering strategic innovation. The Information Technology Services Division oversees critical projects and technological initiatives within NYPD. They maintain and enhance the department's IT infrastructure, including network, servers, and workstations. Notably, ITSD has rolled out various advancements, such as equipping officers with cellular phones applications and digitizing department forms to improve efficiency. -Provide leadership to Strategic Technology Division & Information Technology Application Services Unit -Manage the Applications Engineering leads and provide guidance as they lead their teams and set prioritization; -Oversee the development and support of major initiatives in Information Technology Bureau; -Lead the agency to modernize end-of-life applications and platforms; -Lead high priority special projects and technology initiatives. -Develops and implements IT strategies, policies, and procedures -Oversee the full lifecycle of application development and the delivery of complex product portfolios; -Set scope and delivery expectations with business partners, product teams, and customers; -Manage and mentor IT staff, fostering a productive and collaborative environment -Manage the IT budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and cost-effectiveness -Maintain relationships with technology vendors, negotiate contracts and ensure quality service -Collaborate with other Bureaus to understand their technology needs and align IT solutions with business goals. Work Location: 1, Police Plaza, NY Work Schedule: Varies DIRECTOR OF TECHNOLOGY DEVELOP - 13605 Qualifications A master’s degree from an accredited college and three years of satisfactory full-time experience in a large technology operation involving complex and highly confidential information technology systems and emergency telecommunications, or in a related field, at least 18 months of which must have been in an executive, managerial or administrative capacity or supervising personnel performing duties in the fields described above; or A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time experience as described in "1" above, at least 18 months of which must have been in an executive, managerial, administrative or supervisory capacity as described in "1" above; or Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" or “2” above. However, all candidates must have the 18 months of executive, managerial, administrative or supervisory experience described in "1" above.
