Director - AI
Position Description:

CGI is building the future of AI-enabled services across Canada and we're looking for a Director to lead that evolution. This role is focused on advanced artificial intelligence, particularly Generative AI and Agentic AI, and how to responsibly bring those solutions to life in enterprise environments.

You’ll be joining a growing Emerging Technologies team that is shaping the way CGI and our clients think about applied AI. If you thrive at the intersection of strategy, architecture, and delivery and want to lead the next wave of intelligent systems, this role is for you.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

As a Director on our team, you will play a lead role in both client-facing and internal innovation efforts. You will help define what modern AI adoption looks like and guide clients from exploration through to deployment.

Responsibilities include:
• Meet with client and internal executive stakeholders to shape strategy, identify opportunities, and define paths to adoption for GenAI and Agentic AI solutions
• Lead, mentor and grow a high performing team by fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration and continuous learning
• Partner with our account teams to identify opportunities, shape proposals and support pre-sales efforts related to AI and emerging technologies
• Be responsible for the P&L of your team and make business decisions on how best to leverage investment in the near and long term
• Lead solution development for real-world use cases involving large language models, agent frameworks, orchestration, memory, grounding, and observability
• Use your understanding of emerging frameworks (LangChain, Semantic Kernel, CrewAI, AutoGen) and platforms (OpenAI, Anthropic, Cohere, Hugging Face, and cloud-native toolsets) to design architectures that are fit for purpose, scalable, and secure
• Bring a strong point of view on how to responsibly bring AI solutions into enterprise environments, including security, compliance, safety, governance, and ethics
• Define and contribute to reusable architecture patterns, technical accelerators, and delivery templates for internal and external projects
• Help shape and deliver “AI Acceleration” offerings such as CGI’s “12 Weeks to AI” by contributing to roadmap planning, technical enablement, and success metrics
• Act as the primary technical lead on major GenAI and Agentic AI initiatives, from initial prototyping through to production readiness
• Build, mentor, and lead a team of AI engineers, architects, and consultants focused on next-generation capabilities
• Collaborate with global CGI teams and client account groups to promote cross-functional innovation and new solution development
• Support business development by helping shape proposals, craft executive presentations, and validate delivery approaches for GenAI opportunities

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

• 10+ years of experience in technical delivery, solution architecture, or technology consulting
• 4+ years working in applied AI, with a focus on GenAI or agent-based systems in the past 12 to 24 months
• Deep knowledge of LLMs, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), evaluation techniques, and model hosting options
• Experience designing, evaluating, and delivering production-ready GenAI and Agentic AI solutions
• Strong knowledge of one or more major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their AI/ML capabilities
• Hands-on familiarity with key frameworks such as LangChain, Semantic Kernel, CrewAI, AutoGen, or custom orchestration logic
• Understanding of MLOps and LLMOps best practices and how they apply to iterative agent-based development
• Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams, mentoring talent, and delivering strategic initiatives from idea to impact
• Comfortable building architecture diagrams, presenting technical narratives, and advising at both strategic and tactical levels
• Strong communicator with the ability to convey technical detail to both technical and executive stakeholders
- Bilingual: (English/French) is an asset

Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field. Master’s degree is a plus
