We are looking for a highly experienced Director – Head of Regulatory Advisory to provide expert guidance across the full spectrum of compliance and regulatory matters.
The role reports directly to the Head of Compliance for the Italian market, with a strategic impact across the organization. Given the strong international footprint of American Express, the role requires a global mindset and the ability to collaborate with international teams.
How will you make an impact in this role?
Lead the Regulatory Advisory Team as Director, acting as the primary senior point of reference for all regulatory mattersProvide authoritative interpretation and guidance on all applicable regulationsSupport strategic initiatives and business decisions by assessing regulatory impacts and advising senior stakeholders and committeesMonitor regulatory developments at national, EU, and international level, translating them into actionable guidance for the businessStrengthen internal governance through policies, frameworks, and risk assessmentsHandle supervisory interactions and request for informationOversee regulatory aspects of product development and lifecycle management on issuing and acquiring servicesCollaborate with other Compliance teams, also at international level, to ensure a coordinated approachLead, coach, and develop a team of regulatory specialists, fostering a risk culture of excellence
Minimum Qualifications:
Degree in Law+10 years of experience in Compliance or Legal roles, preferably within banking, financial services, or regulated fintechExtensive expertise in the regulatory framework governing payment services, including issuing and acquiringProven experience managing interactions with supervisory authoritiesStrong strategic thinking and the ability to provide pragmatic guidance to executive and business stakeholdersExcellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of clearly articulating complex regulatory topicsSolid leadership capabilities with experience managing teams in dynamic and evolving environmentsAbility to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work in a deadline-intensive environmentFluency in Italian and English (both written and verbal), additional languages are an advantageNon-considerations for sponsorship: Employment eligibility to work with American Express in Italy is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.
