Job Overview

This role serves as the primary U.S. benefits leader and key partner within the broader Total Rewards and Human Resources organization.

Provide strategic leadership and oversight for the U.S. employee benefits function, ensuring the design, governance, delivery, and continuous improvement of all employee benefit programs across the United States. The role is accountable for maintaining competitive, compliant, and cost-effective benefit offerings that support business objectives and the overall employee value proposition.

With limited guidance, provide expert advice and consultation to senior HR leadership, executive leadership, and business stakeholders on all aspects of U.S. employee benefits. Lead a team of employee benefits professionals in a direct line and matrix environment to ensure effective program delivery and operational excellence.

Essential Functions

Lead, develop, and manage the U.S. employee benefits team in accordance with organizational policies and applicable regulations.Lead the design, implementation, and administration of all U.S. employee benefit plans and policies, including health and welfare, retirement, time-off programs, and ancillary benefits.Define and execute the U.S. benefits strategy, ensuring alignment with business priorities, workforce needs, and broader HR and Total Rewards objectives.Develop strong and effective partnerships with HR Centers of Excellence, Finance, Legal, HR Operations, and other key stakeholders to support integrated delivery of benefits programs.Own the U.S. employee benefits budget, including actuals and forecasting, expense management, and cost-containment initiatives, and ensure programs are delivered within approved financial parameters.Evaluate and benchmark U.S. benefit programs against industry and peer data to ensure competitiveness; participate in and analyze benefits surveys and develop recommendations for leadership.Lead the annual benefits renewal and open enrollment processes, including plan evaluation, vendor negotiations, employee communications, and education activities.Oversee relationships with benefits consultants, brokers, and vendors; manage contracts, performance, and service delivery.Ensure full compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing employee benefits. Prepare, review, and approve required filings, reports, and plan documentation in partnership with Legal.Monitor legislative and regulatory developments impacting U.S. employee benefits and advise leadership on required or recommended changes.Ensure benefits programs are scalable, operationally efficient, and supported by appropriate systems, data, and reporting capabilities.Provide senior-level consultation, guidance, and issue resolution support related to employee benefits, including escalated employee or management inquiries.Support mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic initiatives by providing U.S. benefits due diligence, integration planning, and implementation support.

Qualifications

Required

Bachelor’s degree.8+ years of progressive experience in employee benefits, or a combination of employee benefits and related specialist experience.4+ years of direct people management experience, including regular interaction with senior and executive management teams.Deep knowledge of U.S. employee benefits programs, regulatory requirements, and industry practices.Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a complex, matrixed organization.

Preferred

Experience within a broader Total Rewards environment (e.g., compensation, wellbeing, recognition, or integrated rewards strategy) is desirable.Experience supporting large, multi-entity or highly regulated organizations.Professional certifications (e.g., CEBS or equivalent) preferred.

The potential base pay range for this role, when annualized, is $103,500.00 - $288,200.00. The actual base pay offered may vary based on a number of factors including job-related qualifications such as knowledge, skills, education, and experience; location; and/or schedule (full or part-time). Dependent on the position offered, incentive plans, bonuses, and/or other forms of compensation may be offered, in addition to a range of health and welfare and/or other benefits.
