What you’ll be doing
As a Director, Technology Currency Governance within Technology Operations, you will provide enterprise leadership across technology currency governance, financial analytics, and investment planning to support the modernization of CIBC’s technology estate. You will be accountable for establishing and leading a technology currency governance function that helps the organization make informed investment decisions across infrastructure platforms including servers, networks, storage, and cloud technologies. This role combines technology operations insight with financial data analysis to evaluate technology lifecycle decisions and guide long-term investment strategies. Reporting to the Senior Director, you will lead a small, high-performing team and oversee governance, financial insights, and analytics that support the prioritization of technology refresh initiatives. You will partner closely with technology operations, finance, vendor partners, and enterprise stakeholders to analyze financial and operational data, build forward-looking investment models, and provide recommendations that balance cost, risk, and operational resilience. Your work will help answer critical strategic questions such as when infrastructure platforms should be refreshed, how cloud versus on-premise investments compare financially, and how technology decisions today impact operational and financial outcomes over the next several years.

How you’ll succeed
Financial analytics & modeling - Curate and analyze financial data to develop models that support technology lifecycle decisions, infrastructure investments, and currency remediation strategies. Use financial insights to evaluate cost scenarios and guide strategic investment planning.Technology investment planning - Develop multi-year financial views of technology platforms, evaluating refresh cycles, modernization initiatives, and cloud versus on-premise infrastructure strategies to inform executive decision-making.Enterprise technology governance & audit - Lead governance frameworks that guide how technology currency investments are evaluated, prioritized, and approved across application and infrastructure domains. Partner with audit, compliance, and data governance teams to ensure sustainable controls and regulatory readiness.Analytics and insights - Translate complex financial and operational data into clear insights and actionable recommendations. Deliver executive-ready reporting and dashboards that support strategic planning and operational decision-making.People leadership & team development - Lead and develop a small team responsible for technology currency analytics and governance. Provide coaching, mentorship, and clear direction to ensure delivery of high-impact insights and enterprise outcomes.Collaboration & stakeholder relationships - Build strong partnerships across technology operations, infrastructure teams, finance partners, and external vendors to ensure alignment on technology investment priorities and financial planning. Communicate complex financial and technology insights clearly to senior leaders, helping them understand trade-offs, risks, and opportunities associated with technology investment decisions.Who you are
You can demonstrate 8+ years of experience in technology, financial analytics, or technology operations leadership, including experience working with infrastructure platforms and technology investment planning. Experience analyzing technology financial data, budgets, or cost models to support strategic technology decisions. Strong understanding of technology operations environments, including infrastructure platforms such as servers, networks, storage, operating systems, and cloud technologies. Experience supporting or leading technology governance, audit, or compliance processes. Experience with data analytics tools (SQL, Power BI, or similar) and knowledge of cloud technologies or infrastructure lifecycle management would be considered an asset.You give meaning to data: You enjoy investigating complex problems and distilling insights into actionable recommendations.You embrace and champion change: You continuously evolve your thinking and ways of working to deliver your best.You’re passionate about people.
