The Wealth and Advice Solutions Risk & Governance (WAS R&G) is a team of risk professionals supporting the Wealth and advice Solutions business in understanding and executing on obligations of various risk programs. Within Wealth and Advice Solutions Risk & Governance, the WAS Supervision team is responsible for performing supervisory-related functions and controls based on the activities performed by registered representatives at Schwab to meet industry and regulatory obligations.

 

Reporting to the WAS R&G Supervision Director, this Director will lead and support the evolution and execution of our supervisory programs related to financial planning, tax, trust, and estate, and alternative investment specialty teams within WAS. The Director will lead a team consisting of varying manager levels who perform delegated supervisory responsibilities and assessments which may include electronic communications, product/service recommendations, trading activity, and trend reporting. The Director will regularly engage with various levels and members of WAS Leadership, Compliance, and Legal partners to support business projects and initiatives related to various specialty teams and their products or services.

 

Your responsibilities will include, but not limited to, supporting the following Supervision Program activities:

 

Strategic Thinking:

Lead the implementation of a specialist supervisory program and maintain the program on an ongoing basis. Map and understand connections across various Wealth and Advice Solutions specialist roles and teams specifically related to Financial Planning, Tax, Trust, and Estate and Alternative Investment Select offers and services. Assess and implement supervisory processes and standards as products, offers, business practices, and/or regulatory environment changes.Other supervisory related activities

Leading People:

Lead and develop a team that grows their knowledge by cultivating relevant subject matter expertise (SME) related to industry and regulatory obligations for supervisory risk mitigation.Collaborate with employees to establish clear, challenging performance goals and objectives. Provide support, coaching, mentoring and feedback to employees through ongoing interaction and individual development plan conversations.Inspire and bring together team members through team meetings, special activities, and/or individual meetings to strengthen team engagement and connectedness across the team and organization.

Communication and Collaboration:

Establish and maintain cross-enterprise partnerships with WAS Leaders and Partners, especially those directly aligned to specialty teams. Consult with business offer/product owners, Legal, and Compliance personnel regarding the applicability of rules and regulatory requirements, internal guidelines, and workflows to meet business needs. Required Qualifications:

A minimum of 10 years of supervision/compliance/regulatory experienceA minimum of 5+ years of people leadership with varying levels of seniority within financial services.Active FINRA Series 7 and 66Active FINRA Series 9 and 10 or obtain as a condition of employment.Deep experience and business acumen of Broker-Dealer and Investment Advisor business, risks, and associated rules/regulations.Demonstrated success operating in both a strategic and executional capacity with ability to prioritize effectively and manage stakeholders in a fast-paced and matrixed environment. Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Proven ability to quickly earn the trust of sponsors and key stakeholders; set direction and approach; resolve conflict; deliver tough messages with grace; and execute with limited information and ambiguity.High agility to manage multiple projects that vary in scope and complexity simultaneously with a high sense of urgency and great attention to detail.Robust communication skills, both written and verbal, with demonstrated ability to articulate insights and recommendations that persuade audiences.Passion for leading people with a team first demeanorStrong written and verbal communication, organization, and project management skills with the ability to coordinate and prioritize actions and milestones.Proven success streamlining or reimagining existing processes leveraging a creative and resourceful approach.

Annual Base Compensation Range: $119,000-$264,600.  Your compensation may be different.  Talk with your Talent Advisor to learn more.  In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or other incentive opportunities.
