What you will be doing
The Director of Strategic Initiatives in eCommerce will report to the Leader of eCommerce Field Operations. The Director provides enterpriselevel leadership of strategic initiatives including B2B relationships through influence and partnership with customers, peers and division based crossfunctional partners. With a growth focus, this role will set strategy to build new business, govern performance via KPI frameworks, and champion continuous improvement and engagement. The leader partners with internal teams and external vendors to integrate demand, optimize capacity, and ensure timely, costeffective, and accurate delivery of product.
The position will be based out of the following location(s): Boise, ID or Pleasanton, CA. Travel is required for this role (65-75%) to meet customers across our national network. When not travelling, this role is a hybrid working role with the expectation of 4 days of in-office work and 1 day of remote work. This is subject to change due to management expectations.
Main responsibilities:
Strategy & Governance
Define the multiyear strategy for business growth aligned to enterprise goals. Translate strategic priorities into annual operating plans with clear outcomes, productivity, and budgets.Operational Performance Oversight
Set KPI frameworks (e.g., Growth, Conversion, Retention) and review performance via weekly/monthly business reviews, using insights to coursecorrect.Financial & Resource Management
Own budgets operational area; identify structural cost levers and productivity improvements. Direct labor and capacity planning models to align staffing with demand variability.Technology & Vendor Strategy
Set the technology roadmap, lead system implementations and upgrades in partnership with IT, Product and vendors. Manage relationships with vendors, purchase orders, and expenses to stay on budget and deliver value.CrossFunctional Leadership & Influence
Partner with procurement, operations, compliance, etc. to ensure endtoend integration of processes and platforms. Communicate vision, roadmap, key decisions, and learnings across the enterprise. Obtain regular feedback from division partners and leadership to enhance processes and exceed partner expectations. Work closely with all functions to align strategies. Affect results by maneuvering through appropriate formal and informal organization channels. Influence across all levels.Talent & Culture
Facilitate opportunities for training and development, encouraging collaboration and knowledge sharing among team members, and recognizing and rewarding achievements. Foster an inclusive, customer first culture that seeks diverse perspectives and drives engagement and change.Reporting & Analytics
Oversee standardized performance reports and dashboards; leverage data, surveys, and analytics to measure effectiveness and progress, and to inform decisions. Analyze the current cost structures and identify levers to improve profitability, including financial forecasting and risk assessments.We are looking for candidates who possess the following:
Outstanding communicator with excellent presentation, written, and oral communication skills. A thought leader who is resilient in approach and can adapt to unexpected challenges. Experience working closely with executives and senior leaders to support strategic programs, business planning, and operational objectives. Excellent facilitation, collaboration, and teamwork skills with demonstrated ability to gain trust, secure buy-in, and influence and manage change at all levels. Strong analytical, strategic-thinking, and problem-solving capabilities. Data-driven mindset, with the ability to design surveys, capture metrics and data, and leverage data and analytics to measure program effectiveness and progress. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and SharePoint). Self-starter with a demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-based environment that is rapidly changing, customer-focused, and service-oriented.We believe the successful candidate has these qualifications and experience
Minimum 8+ years of progressively responsible experience in relevant senior roles in B2B business development, operations, and/or retail management and support, preferably in a sales environment. BA/BS degree is required with preference for degrees in Business or related fields. An MBA is a plus
Travel Requirements: 65-75%
Physical Requirements
Willingness to travel up to 65-75% for business purposes (in-state and out-of-state). Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment. Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at desk or computer terminal. Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment during normal workday. Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in completion of job duties.
