This is a hybrid role available in Spring House, PA or Cambridge, MA or San Diego, CA.
We are searching for the best talent for a Director, Scientific Operations, Discovery- Immunology. As the Discovery Operations Lead, you will play a critical role in scientific operational leadership to ensure the successful execution of initiatives that enhance efficiency and drive scientific innovation of the Discovery Immunology Organization. This individual will partner closely with the Global Head of Discovery, Vice-President of Discovery and the Strategy, Operations Implementation Lead to understand scientific strategy and drive continuous improvements and change management. This individual will manage site-associated lab managers and provide a strategic lens for harmonization of the business and scientific operational processes between sites. This individual and their team will be accountable to develop, execute, and deliver Discovery’s short and long-term strategic operational objectives.
Primary Responsibilities:
+ Leads a lab scientific operations team supporting the Discovery Immunology function to maximize effectiveness and drive cost efficiencies.
+ Work with your reports, Strategy Implementation Lead, Discovery IACUC representatives, FACS manager and Discovery leadership to formulate and execute strategic and operational plans.
+ Partners with other R&D and DPDS partners to assure appropriate cross-functional operating framework that drives scientific synergies and operational efficiency.
+ Collaborate within the Therapeutic area on the Discovery long range financial plan involving lab supplies and strategic Capex investments, working with the individual representatives in the function (lab managers and group leaders).
+ Serves as coordinator for Discovery staff change management and DISCO SLT initiatives partnering with the extended SLT.
+ Leads and drives special departmental initiatives that encompass strategic growth areas.
+ Motivates, inspires and influences others across the organization and enterprise to achieve results.
+ Takes ownership for their scientific operations team’s Talent Development and creating a culture centered on our Credo Values.
+ Develops, coaches and engages talent, and ensures diverse lab bench strength for the future.
+ Establishes and maintains strong relationships with key external and internal stakeholders to attain business results.
+ Fosters a culture for innovation.
Qualifications / Requirements:
+ Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required. Advanced degree (Masters) or PhD is preferred.
+ Minimum 10 years of experience in both laboratory sciences and operations in pharma R&D.
+ Knowledge of Discovery and business operations.
+ Ability to present and communicate to stakeholders.
+ Strong organizational skills and the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment.
+ Demonstrated success at developing highly collaborative and effective relationships in complex, highly matrixed organization.
+ Experience integrating advanced digital tools or analytics (preferably AI) into wet lab workflows to drive efficiency and impact.
+ Must have demonstrated experience and success with external partnerships.
+ Change management experience.
+ Experience in assessing technology, external environment and R&D process requirements to successfully drive operational productivity, strategy optimization, process improvements and efficiencies.
+ Experience with Program, Project and Financial Management.
+ Ability to translate data into information and strategies into executable action plans.
+ Position will require up to 15% domestic and international travel, defined by business needs.

Subject to the terms of their respective policies and date of hire, employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:
+ Vacation –120 hours per calendar year
+ Sick time - 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Colorado –48 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington –56 hours per calendar year
+ Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays –13 days per calendar year
+ Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
+ Parental Leave – 480 hours within one year of the birth/adoption/foster care of a child
+ Bereavement Leave – 240 hours for an immediate family member: 40 hours for an extended family member per calendar year
+ Caregiver Leave – 80 hours in a 52-week rolling period10 days
+ Volunteer Leave – 32 hours per calendar year
+ Military Spouse Time-Off – 80 hours per calendar year

**The anticipated base pay range for this position is :**
$164,000.00 - $282,900.00
