Director, Sales Operations
The Director of Sales Operations is a strategic leadership role responsible for driving the operational effectiveness of the commercial organization for divisions of responsibility. This role leads a broad portfolio of functions including Sales Analytics, Data Science, Master Data Governance, Project & Program Management (PMO), Field Sales Enablement, and Vendor Management. The Director is charged with aligning operational strategies with commercial objectives, leading cross-functional initiatives, and enabling data-driven decision-making to support business growth. This position will oversee the execution of advanced analytics initiatives that inform customer insights and sales forecasting, while also defining the systems roadmap in alignment with enterprise architecture. The Director will champion best-in-class master data governance practices to ensure data quality and operational integrity across platforms such as ERP, Model N, and ICM. A key responsibility includes managing a centralized PMO to ensure the successful delivery of strategic sales initiatives and commercial integration activities. The role also partners with senior sales leaders to design and implement tools, communications, and incentive programs that enhance field productivity. Success in this role requires a blend of strategic thinking, technical acumen, cross-functional leadership, and a relentless focus on execution, performance, and continuous improvement. **Strategic Sales Operations Leadership** - Lead the Sales Operations function to support the division’s commercial objectives, driving strategic execution, cross-functional collaboration, and business performance. Set and oversee the execution of operational strategies to ensure alignment with overall business goals. Establish and monitor key performance indicators for sales operations excellence. Lead and develop a high-performing management team and their direct reports with a strong focus on employee engagement, retention, and succession planning. **Analytics & Data Science** - Oversee advanced analytics and data science initiatives that drive customer insights, segmentation, targeting, pricing optimization, and forecasting. Promote a culture of data-driven decision-making, aligning analytical models with strategic sales goals. Ensure actionable, predictive, and prescriptive insights are delivered to sales leaders and field teams. Define and drive the systems roadmap in alignment with enterprise architecture, focusing on key platforms such as ERP, SPM, and RM. Evaluate and recommend tools and technology to improve operational agility, integration, and business outcomes. **Master Data Governance** - Lead and continuously improve processes for master data governance, including customer, territory, and product data across key platforms (e.g., ERP, Model N, ICM). Oversee accurate and validated master data to support territory management, sales operations, and financial integrity. Partner with IT and functional leaders to strengthen MDM architecture and compliance. **AI-Driven Sales Strategy & Optimization –** Embed artificial intelligence into core sales operations, leveraging AI-powered analytics to enhance forecasting, performance management, and strategic execution. Drive automation and intelligent insights to optimize sales workflows, reduce manual efforts, and improve decision-making speed. Identify opportunities for AI-assisted customer segmentation, pricing strategies, and sales enablement to maximize revenue growth. Champion an organizational mindset that embraces AI innovation, ensuring ongoing adoption and upskilling within the team to stay ahead in an evolving digital landscape. **Project & Program Management (PMO)** - Oversee a centralized PMO to manage the project portfolio for Sales Operations and related commercial functions. Ensure execution of all project phases: initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure, along with scope, cost, schedule, risk, resource, and stakeholder management. Provide business case development support and lead commercial integration activities for mergers, acquisitions, or divestitures. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency, scalability, and consistency across the department. Field Sales Support & Enablement - Partner with Senior Sales Management on incentive design, tools, and communications to support field execution. Act as a strategic liaison between the Sales team and supporting functions such as IS, Commercial Finance, Master Data, and Compensation. **Vendor & Contract Management** - Oversee external vendors and managed service agreements, ensuring service delivery, SLA compliance, and budget adherence. **Education and Special Training required** Bachelor’s Degree in business, finance, information systems or other related field of study; prefer Master’s Degree in business administration or other relevant field of study. **Qualifications and Work Experience Required:** + 10+ years’ experience in complex sales performance management activities. + Demonstrated ability to lead managers that oversee individual teams + Demonstrated ability to develop reporting strategy and implementing enabling technologies such as CRM and other Sales Automation tools. + Demonstrated ability to proactively identify opportunities for sales process improvement in collaboration with sales leadership to inspect sales process quality and prioritize opportunities for improvement + Demonstrated verbal communication and presentation skills + Demonstrated ability to influence others including, but not limited to Sales, Marketing, Legal, and Finance Leaders + Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite specifically Access, Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint, Power BI + Excellent customer service skills.
