Position Summary
Portfolio and Project Management (PPM) enables decision making and insights for BMS stakeholders across all business units. The Resource Management team falls within the PPM group. Its core responsibility is to drive resource management excellence in partnership with PPM, Research and Development (R&D) Functions, Finance, and IT to generate meaningful resource related insights that inform and influence portfolio decisions. The Director of Resource Management Business Capabilities and Advanced Analytics will be responsible for driving best[1]in-class planning and reporting for Resource Management. This role will work in partnership with various groups to optimize data and insight generation related to workforce planning. The primary focus will be on defining and employing advanced analytics capabilities and innovative approaches to efficiently support R&D with effective resource allocation, ensuring that resources are utilized productively and the pipeline is executed with speed and efficiency. This role will interface senior leaders, supporting budget cycles, governance interactions, strategic partnerships, and assessing the impact of in-licensing, acquisitions, divestitures, and capacity allocation.
Key Responsibilities
Advanced Analytics: Define and employ advanced analytics capabilities and innovative approaches to efficiently support R&D with effective resource allocation.
Best Practices: Develop and apply best practices for FTE modeling, forecasting, headcount management, and actuals capture and interpretation.
Collaboration: Collaborate with functions, finance, and resource modeling specialists to embed functional ownership of demand and build trust in demand data.
Accuracy: Lead and improve the accuracy of resource and capacity management across R&D functions to enable informed decision-making on current and new opportunities.
Strategic Planning: Maximize existing and build novel approaches to answer critical strategic planning questions.
Business Transformation: Lead business transformation through AI, using systems and data to automate workforce planning.
Resource Analytics: Drive resource analytics to support governance and functions on productivity metrics.
Stakeholder Engagement: Engage senior-level business stakeholders to address priority resource and capacity management needs.
Innovation: Continuously monitor the external landscape for opportunities and innovations to improve the current state.
Leadership and Talent Development: Develop next-generation resource management leaders and create sustainable talent pipeline.
Networking: Network and liaise with cross-functional business stakeholders to deliver high-value resource dashboards and insights.
Qualifications & Experience
Undergraduate (BA/BS) degree required, PhD, MBA, or Master’s degree in life science or quantitative field
preferred.
10+ years of professional experience in the life sciences or biopharmaceutical industry. Experience working with
Clinical Operations a plus.
5+ years of resource management experience, leading initiatives to improve resource and capacity management
specifically in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry.
Demonstrated strength in assessing business-critical needs, developing business strategy, translating strategy
into operating models and actionable plans, managing program execution, and delivering measurable business
value.
Understanding of agile development methodologies and technology, analytics, and business intelligence solution
design, development, testing, and lifecycle management.
Capable of bringing structure to vaguely defined problems while using creative yet pragmatic problem-solving
approaches and execution management.
Highly effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to build relationships and influence and drive organizational engagement.
Strong understanding of project, portfolio, resource, cost, and budget management.
Advanced experience with Planisware, React, Spotfire, Power BI and/or Tableau. AI experience is a plus.
Direct experience with systems used to manage resource demand and supply.
The starting compensation for this job is a range from $193,980 - $235,100, plus incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility). The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills and where the job is performed. Final, individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience. Eligibility for specific benefits listed on our careers site may vary based on the job and location.
