Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.
We are seeking a strategic, results-oriented Director, Residuals to lead our global residuals reporting function for both scripted and unscripted programs. This leadership role is essential to ensuring residuals compliance across all distribution platforms, overseeing payments, managing claims, and driving key departmental initiatives.
The ideal candidate is a subject matter expert in contract analysis, risk mitigation, and process optimization, with a strong background in Guild reporting standards, financial oversight, and cross-functional collaboration. You will work closely with departments such as Labor Relations, Business Affairs, Production Finance, and Legal.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Oversight & Reporting
+ Lead day-to-day operations of the Residuals team, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
+ Plan, forecast, and initiate monthly and quarterly residual payments.
+ Track and analyze department KPIs to ensure on-time setups, processing, and payments.
+ Oversee responses to internal, external, SOX, and Guild audit requests.
+ Liaise with audit teams and Guild representatives; escalate issues as needed.
+ Create and refine tools and methodologies to drive efficiently.
+ Support financial planning including Ultimates, cash pacing, cost estimates, and accruals.
Process Optimization & Systems Enhancements
+ Partner with IT and department leadership on system implementations and ERP upgrades.
+ Lead efforts to test and enhance residuals systems and processes.
+ Champion continuous improvement, leveraging automation and data analytics.
+ Develop and manage training programs and materials to align with strategic goals.
Cross-Functional Leadership
+ Act as a strategic advisor to Financial Contract and Reporting group, FP&A, Controllership, Legal, Business Affairs, Labor Relations, Marketing, Production and other business groups at NBCUniversal.
+ Ensure data integrity and optimization of financial systems.
+ Provide strategic insights to support business initiatives and growth.
+ Collaborate across departments to support contract alignment with evolving business models.
People Management
+ Direct, coach and train junior staff.
+ Foster a collaborative and performance-driven team culture.
+ Promote a culture of continuous learning, development, and operational excellence.
Basic Requirements:
+ 8+ years of experience in Residuals or related financial reporting roles.
+ Proven leadership experience managing teams and complex cross-functional projects.
+ Deep understanding of Guild CBAs (Collective Bargaining Agreements), compliance, and reporting.
+ Strong expertise in contract interpretation and financial documentation.
+ Excellent problem-solving, communication, and executive influencing skills.
+ Familiarity with ERP systems and process automation tools is preferred.
+ Demonstrated success in process optimization, training, and systems implementation.

Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
