This role is central to Schwab’s transformation efforts and the firm’s long‑term transformation strategy. Transformation at Schwab requires end‑to‑end strategy, planning, and execution to deliver near‑term business value and long‑term strategic enablement.

 

The Director shapes strategy, sets priorities, and leads a portfolio of transformation efforts for Schwab’s most impactful service, processing, and client experiences.

 

The Director integrates business strategy, data, and process excellence to deliver measurable business value while ensuring alignment with firm‑wide priorities.

 

What you will do:

 

Strategy Execution

Translate transformation priorities into product strategies Develop business cases, multi‑year roadmaps, and delivery plans grounded in data, client impact, and scale and efficiencyDrive measurable business value for complex operations and client-facing experiences Guide product prioritization, balancing immediate business needs with long‑term valueConvert product strategy into requirements using data, AI outcomes, and process transformation

 

Enterprise Collaboration & Influence

Deliver transformations through cross-functional collaboration with businesses, Technology, Digital, Operations, and other stakeholdersLead multi‑disciplinary teams— through influence— align priorities and set clear accountability across senior leaders, partners, and working teams

 

Delivery Excellence

Lead complex initiatives and interdependent workstreamsSet strong operating rhythms, decision structures, and delivery standards to increase speed‑to‑market Maintain transparency through communication and structured reporting Drive progress – ensure decisions are made quickly, risks are addressed early, issues are resolved, and teams focus on outcomes

 

AI Enablement & Emerging Capabilities

Lead AI adoption across transformation effortsIdentify automation and data opportunities that enhance scale and efficiency Partner with Technology and Data teams to embed AI/ML responsibly

 

Communication

Create clear and compelling communications that connect strategy, progress, and decisions to measurable outcomes, tailored for executives and working teamsUse narratives and data to inform decisions What you have 14+ years leading large, business‑critical product, operations, or transformation initiatives.Experience leading multi‑discipline, multi‑level teams directly and through influence.Proven experience leading AI‑enabled product or transformation initiatives, translating business problems into AI use cases that deliver measurable outcomes.Experience partnering with Technology, Data, and Risk teams to deploy AI/ML capabilities responsibly, including governance, model risk considerations, and change adoption across the enterprise.Experience synthesizing ambiguous inputs into strategy, then leading the strategy execution.Excellent collaboration and relationship‑building skills across all levels.Experience organizing and mobilizing high‑performing teams.Ability to balance multiple priorities, simultaneously.Excellent written and verbal communication and analytical skills.Financial services experience preferred.
