Your Role

The Director of Packaging Engineering leads technical and strategic packaging initiatives across categories, from concept to commercialization. Spearhead innovation, sustainability, and cost-optimized packaging solutions that elevate the Victoria’s Secret Beauty experience while meeting functional, regulatory, and brand standards. Reports to AVP, Packaging Development.

Your Impact

Strategic Leadership & Team Development

- Shape and execute departmental strategy, continuous development of talent, and maintaining technical expertise.
- Mentor and lead packaging engineers and managers to foster a high-performance, innovation-driven culture.
- Develop future leaders and promote cross-functional collaboration throughout the product lifecycle.

Packaging & Project Management

- Drive development from ideation to manufacturing: manage material selection, tooling, testing protocols, supplier specifications, and commercialization.
- Oversee packaging feasibility, cost modeling, developmental trials, and timeline risk mitigation.
- Manage and support Packaging teams throughout various projects at multiple stages of program development.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

- Partner with Merchandizing, Design, Sourcing, Product Development, Quality, and Operations to align packaging solutions with brand vision, manufacturability, and regulatory standards.
- Interface directly with internal design teams to translate concepts into scalable packaging systems.

Supplier & Vendor Management

- Build and maintain strong vendor relationships, ensuring vendors meet specifications, quality, and sustainability standards.
- Manage global harmonization of packaging systems across suppliers and locations.
- Evaluate supplier capabilities and support change orders, deviations, packaging standardization, and production ramp‑ups.

Sustainability, Compliance & Testing

- Lead sustainable packaging innovation, life-cycle analysis, and material selection to meet ESG goals while optimizing cost.
- Ensure compliance with domestic and international regulatory standards.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

- Stay abreast of industry trends, incorporate new technologies, and drive continuous improvement and packaging standardization.
- Identify cost‑saving opportunities via material optimization, packaging reduction, and standardization across product lines.

Minimum Salary: $148,000.00
Maximum Salary: $209,790.00

VS&Co provides a range of compensation for this role as shown. Your actual salary will be determined by a number of factors, including: your specific skills and experience, geographic region, or other relevant factors.

Qualifications

Your Experience

Required Education & Experience

- Bachelor’s in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or related technical field.

- 8–10+ years in packaging engineering within CPG, beauty, or related industries, with at least 3–5 years in leadership roles with direct reports. Experience in prestige packaging is a plus.

Technical & Leadership Skills

- Deep knowledge of packaging materials (plastic, glass, paperboard, metals) and manufacturing methods.

- Proficiency in CAD/PDM systems, packaging design tools (e.g. ArtiosCAD, Illustrator), specification and ERP systems.

- Skilled in testing methodologies and performance validation (SPC, FMEA, DoE, lab and distribution testing).

- Demonstrated ability to deliver innovation, manage budgets, and drive cross-functional alignment in fast-paced, collaborative environments.
