Johnson & Johnson is recruiting for a Director, New Business Strategy to join our J&J Vision team. Position is located in Jacksonville, FL or Irvine, CA.
This pivotal role will drive our inorganic growth initiatives, focusing on identifying, evaluating, and executing new business opportunities that align with our vision of transforming eye health. You will lead a talented team dedicated to shaping our future landscape through strategic partnerships, acquisitions, and collaborations across the entire J&J Vision business.
**POSITION SUMMARY**
The Director, New Business Strategy will report through the global strategic marketing organization and drive our inorganic growth initiatives, focusing on identifying, evaluating, and executing new business opportunities that align with our vision of transforming eye health. You will lead a talented team dedicated to shaping our future landscape through strategic partnerships, acquisitions, and collaborations across the entire J&J Vision business.
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
+ **Strategic Leadership & Inorganic Growth:**
+ Develop and execute against the inorganic strategy to accelerate growth within the J&J Vision Franchise.
+ Lead the creation of robust business cases for inorganic opportunities, including equity investments, partnerships, and acquisitions.
+ Conduct comprehensive commercial diligence to evaluate potential opportunities and mitigate risks.
+ **Team Leadership & Talent Development:**
+ Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of strategy professionals.
+ Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team.
+ Ensure talent growth and succession planning align with organizational goals.
+ **Cross-Functional & Stakeholder Management:**
+ Collaborate extensively with regional marketing, global marketing, business development, legal, finance, R&D, quality, supply chain, regulatory and several other key stakeholders.
+ Manage diverse stakeholder expectations and ensure alignment across functions, geographies, and business units.
+ Drive consensus and facilitate decision-making processes, balancing strategic priorities and operational realities.
+ Develop trusted partnerships at all levels, including senior leadership and operational teams.
+ **Executive Presence & Strategic Communication:**
+ Demonstrate strong executive presence, confidently engaging with senior leadership.
+ Communicate complex strategic concepts clearly, concisely, and persuasively across diverse audiences.
+ Synthesize detailed asset-specific analyses into high-level insights, highlighting key takeaways, strategic impact, value drivers and risks.
+ Prepare and deliver compelling presentations, strategic updates, and business cases to influence decision-making at the executive level.
+ **Market & Industry Insights:**
+ Stay ahead of industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies impacting eye health.
+ Provide strategic insights to influence decision-making at senior levels.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
+ Minimum of a bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as Business Administration, Finance, or a related quantitative discipline is required (advanced degree preferred).
+ Minimum of 10 years of business experience is required.
+ Proven track record in corporate development, strategic planning, or business development within healthcare or related industries.
+ Extensive experience in evaluating and executing inorganic growth opportunities, including mergers and acquisitions, partnerships, or equity investments.
+ Strong financial acumen and ability to develop compelling business cases.
+ Demonstrated leadership and talent development capabilities.
+ Exceptional cross-functional management skills, with proven ability to collaborate across regions, functions, and seniority levels.
+ High-level executive presence with impactful communication skills, capable of engaging with leadership and influencing strategic decisions.
+ Ability to zoom in on detailed asset or market analyses while maintaining the ability to synthesize insights into broader strategic contexts.
+ Previous experience within eye health, medical technologies or healthcare segment strongly preferred.
+ Up to 15% business travel may be required.
The anticipated base pay range for this position is $146,000 to $251,850.
The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.

+ Vacation – up to 120 hours per calendar year.
+ Sick time - up to 40 hours per calendar year.
+ Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays – up to 13 days per calendar year.
+ Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year.
