Job Summary

The Director of Mergers & Acquisitions / Acquisition Integration (M&A/AI) will lead strategic transactions to accelerate 7-Eleven’s growth across North America and internationally. This role involves evaluating, negotiating, and integrating acquisitions that support the company’s transformation in store development, digital services, and operational innovation.

Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesRapidly assess and prioritize potential investment or acquisition opportunities to ensure strategic alignment before allocating team resources.Lead M&A team to develop detailed acquisition site assessments and characterizations for each site.  Clearly communicate strategic intent to the M&A team and establish the basis for economic assumptions used in investment modeling.Determine key drivers for a successful transaction based on appropriate cross-functional input from internal and external stakeholders and experts.Drive cross-functional alignment on final model assumptions and lead senior-level engagements—including Board presentations—for evaluation, feedback, and approval.Effectively engage with stakeholders across all levels of the organization, including leadership at the parent company (Seven-Eleven Japan & Seven & I Holdings).Review and validate pro forma financials and valuation models to support informed decision-making on acquisition opportunities.Lead scenario planning and sensitivity analyses to deepen evaluation of strategic investment decisions.Collaborate with Legal to draft letters of intent and formally present valuation and deal terms to the seller, target company, or broker.Lead negotiation of Letters of Intent and Purchase Agreements, overseeing due diligence, strategic planning, and seamless integration of acquisitions.Lead final negotiations of the Sales and Purchase Agreement to secure favorable deal terms and ensure alignment with strategic objectives.Oversee post-signing due diligence efforts, including environmental assessments and evaluation of store infrastructure (e.g., gas systems, equipment).Lead integration planning and execution, guiding stores through change of control to full conversion as core 7-Eleven or wholesale operations.Build and manage a robust acquisition pipeline, identifying opportunities in existing and new markets while cultivating relationships across the c-store industry, investment banks, and brokers.Coach and develop the M&A and Acquisition Integration team, fostering collaboration through deal team structures rather than traditional hierarchies.Support international M&A efforts, including acquisitions, joint ventures, and market entry strategies outside North America.Partner with cross-functional teams (e.g., Digital, Business Development, Store Innovation) to evaluate early-stage companies for strategic investments, partnerships, or acquisitions.Lead cross-functional strategic analyses, identifying opportunities to accelerate growth through.

Specific Knowledge and SkillsTechnical Proficiency: Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); experience with Smartsheets, Salesforce, GIS tools (e.g., ArcGIS), and trade area analysis platforms (e.g., Kalibrate).Industry & Functional Expertise: Minimum 10 years of experience in Finance, M&A, Private Equity, Investment Banking, or related fields, with a strong understanding of the convenience store (C-store), retail, or comparable industries.Strategic & Analytical Acumen: Proven ability to conduct financial modeling, valuation, and pro forma analysis; skilled in evaluating complex business scenarios and guiding high-impact investment decisions.M&A Leadership: Demonstrated success in negotiating letters of intent, purchase agreements, and deal terms; leading acquisition integration from change in control through full operational conversion.Global Perspective: Experience supporting international M&A initiatives, including joint ventures and strategic partnerships in new markets.Innovation & Emerging Tech: Familiarity with digital transformation, store innovation, and emerging technologies relevant to retail and consumer experience.Relationship Management: Strong network-building capabilities with private equity firms, venture capitalists, investment banks, accelerators, and startups.Cross-Functional Leadership: Ability to lead and align cross-functional “Deal Teams” with strategic clarity; effective coaching and development of team members at all levels.Executive Communication: Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to engage senior leadership and Board-level stakeholders through compelling narratives and data-driven insights.Operational Excellence: Skilled in managing multiple priorities and projects simultaneously with strong organizational and decision-making capabilities.
