A day in the life.
As our Director, IT Software Engineering, you’ll be responsible for MMA Software Engineering via leadership and management of multiple development teams, the seamless development and delivery of MMA business applications, ensuring that all teams adhere to MMA coding standards and best practices while building enterprise-level applications. You will oversee the design, coding, testing, and debugging of new and existing applications, fostering a culture of quality and innovation. You will develop and cultivate deep business leader relationships to ensure strong partnership and strategic delivery of key software solutions and value. Additionally, you will promote agile ways of working, which enhances collaboration, accelerates delivery, and improves responsiveness to changing business needs. You will also guide your teams in development initiatives and solutioning efforts, while providing Level 2 and Level 3 application support, identifying and escalating risks and issues as appropriate. A security-first mindset is essential in designing, creating, and developing applications. This key leader reports to the Enterprise Applications and Service Delivery Lead on the IT Senior Leadership Team and is responsible and accountable for the leaders, colleagues and contract workers in the support and delivery of the following responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities:
Software Engineering Development Delivery - Accountability and Responsibility
Managing Tech Stack, SDLC, Delivery Process, Velocity at the right Quality, metrics
Oversee the design, coding, testing, and debugging of new and existing applications, ensuring all teams adhere to coding standards and best practices with a security-first mindset.
Lead and support development initiatives across multiple teams, navigating complex projects and consistently delivering high-quality enterprise-level products.
Partner with Shared Application Services Leader and teams for seamless software engineering delivery in support of MMA business objectives.
Promote the development of reusable code to decrease time to market while ensuring uniformity and scalability across applications.
Foster a culture of security awareness, ensuring that security best practices are integrated into all development processes.
Champion agile practices to enhance collaboration and responsiveness within teams, driving efficiency and adaptability.
Embrace servant leadership, empowering teams to take ownership of their work and encouraging continuous improvement.
Mentor and develop leaders, colleagues and teams fostering a culture of learning, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the teams.
Build and maintain key business leader relationships and partner with emerging Business Relationship Management group within MMA National Technology to deliver seamless business value and transparency.
MMC Technology coordination and collaboration with key leaders, process and technology stack
Provide strategic leadership insight, maturity roadmaps, problem solving and plans in role as a senior IT leader and member of the Applications & Service Mgt. Leadership Team.
Financial Oversight: Manage team budgets and financial operations, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to meet project and departmental goals.
Engage, collaborate and actively contribute as a key leader in the Applications & Service Delivery Leadership Team in support of MMA National Technology.

Extensive Leadership and Management experience leading Software Engineering teams and contract workers in development and support of IT Software Engineering at scale.
10+ years of in-depth technical experience in Software Engineering custom development delivery, including APIs, microservices and support of enterprise software solutions.
Standards and Protocols: Experience in establishing and enforcing coding standards, security protocols and performance benchmarks.
Vendor Management: Proven ability to manage relationships with third-party vendors and service providers, including contract negotiation, evaluating performance, and ensuring alignment with organizational goals and standards.
Integration Experience: Proven track record of successfully integrating disparate systems and applications, ensuring seamless data flow and interoperability to enhance overall business processes.
Proven Experience in leading Custom Application Development Teams, enhancing the business through collaboration, innovation, creative solutioning, and delivery excellence.
Integration Experience: Proven track record of successfully integrating disparate systems and applications, software migrations and ensuring seamless data flow and interoperability to enhance overall business processes.
Proven leadership experience managing and mentoring technical. Strong understanding of system installation, configuration, administration, and performance optimization across various insurance management solutions.
Experience with system integration, API management, and third-party application interfacing.
Knowledge of system security best practices, data privacy regulations, and compliance standards.
Proficiency with Windows Server environments, Active Directory, Group Policy, and server virtualization.
Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues, manage system upgrades, patches, and performance tuning.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills, with attention to data integrity and system accuracy.
Experience supporting data migration, data mapping, and cleansing across multiple systems.
Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines effectively.
Proactive in staying current with system updates, new features, and industry best practices.
Ability to foster collaboration across cross-functional teams

Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience (preferred).

The applicable base salary range for this role is $126,000 to $220,500.
The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
