Responsibilities

As the Director of Internal Communications, you and your team will be responsible for driving strategic internal communications for our Human Resource organization and strategies, helping to drive excellence and inspire trust in Ascension as a provider and employer.

You will develop and implement communications plans and campaigns that strengthen Ascension’s culture, associate experience and operational priorities. As a trusted adviser to HR leaders and teams, you will create customized content for our associates in an engaging Ascension voice that builds a positive tone across the organization and inspires employees. You are an experienced strategist and doer, people manager and communicator well versed in the world of internal engagement strategies. The role will report to the Senior Director, Internal Communications for Ministry-Wide Functions.

 Responsibilities:

Develop and drive the execution of a strategic and measurable internal communications strategy and plan for our HR strategies, in coordination with other system and market communications teamsProvide internal communications counsel and support to Ascension’s HR leaders Develop internal communications content, campaigns and events that support our operational objectives and our internal brandDrive data-based KPIs for functional communications, tied to strategic, operational and advocacy objectivesCombine strategic thinking and big-picture perspective with attention to detail, clarity and focusEnsure that communications reflect the Mission, Vision and Values of Ascension as a healing ministry of the Catholic ChurchMaintain flexible availability and responsiveness both during and outside of normal work hours as necessary

 Complexity of Work:

As an expert in your field, senior strategist and people and program manager, this role requires excellent critical thinking skills and decisive judgment, top-notch written and verbal communication skills, and strong analytical skills. The ideal candidate will have worked within a complex organization, across multiple teams, to help set and manage experience communications strategies. Experience in the healthcare industry is a plus. Must be able to work well in a stressful, fast-paced environment
Requirements

Education:

High School diploma equivalency with 5 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required, with 2 of those years being in leadership/management OR Associate's degree/Bachelor's degree with 3 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required, with 2 of those years being in leadership/management. 
Additional Preferences

Education:

Bachelor's degree and Master's degree preferred

 Work Experience:

Ten years in a leadership role with strategic communications and decision-making responsibilitiesAdept at engaging with senior stakeholders  Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as analytical skills Experience planning and managing internal communications programs and campaignsPeople and program management experienceProven driver and communicator across matrixed organizations, helping to gain internal buy-in and support for our strategic initiativesWhy Join Our Team
