Lenovo is seeking Director, Intellectual Property Litigation, reporting to the Executive Director, Global Litigation. The successful candidate will manage and drive both offensive and defensive intellectual property litigation cases from complaint to conclusion, collaborating with internal and outside counsel, specific subject matter experts, technology experts, business analysts, and company clients.

Job Duties:

Manage patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret litigations throughout the world for all Lenovo entities and affiliates from complaint to conclusionSoliciting bids to manage cases from outside counselNegotiating and managing budgets for litigations.Overseeing outside counsel for management of casesSetting and implementing strategy for IP litigation mattersPreparing and presenting reporting to the business regarding litigation riskValuation of exposure and riskManaging injunction avoidance workAssisting the business in mitigating risk generally and advising on appropriate mitigation effortsCoordinating the development of offensive cases together with the portfolio management team for successful litigationResponsible for Global IP compliance, i.e., takedown notices, DCMA compliance, and counterfeit goods litigationNegotiating IP Licensing SettlementsAdvocacy and presentations at conferences and panels in support of company goals relating to IP.Manage a team of paralegals.

Required Qualifications: 

J.D. Degree with strong academic credentialsCurrent bar membership in the USA minimum of 15 years of legal experience Significant IP litigation experience focused on high tech products including cell phones and computersExperience with international IP litigation and arbitration, particularly in Germany, India, China and the UKExperience with offensive IP LitigationManagement experience required

Preferred Qualifications: 

Pre-trial/disposition, mediation, and motion practice experience are requirementsAbility to prioritize and handle multiple matters simultaneouslyDemonstrated business acumen, strong analytical skills, and the ability to grasp important business issues and legal issues facing the companyTrial experience, first or second chair and motion practice, is preferredSignificant experience advising on litigation strategy and positions, predicting risk-adjusted costs of pursuing litigation, determining and managing case budgets, and developing/evaluating settlement proposalsSEP litigation experience strongly preferredExperience leading litigation tasks, discovery management/collection, and working effectively with other attorneys and paralegalsStrong communication and presentation skills are required to explain complex legal matters to business leaders in a manner that is readily understandable in order to ensure well-informed business decisionsThe candidate should demonstrate an ability to thrive in a large, global environment while coordinating the efforts of an outside counsel network within limited budgets

Location:  Raleigh or Chicago preferred; remote candidates considered.

The base salary budgeted range for this position is $250,000 - $275,000. Individuals may also be considered for bonus and/or commission.
