General Description\n

The Director, House Wide Education directs and designs curriculum to train and update skills and knowledge of nursing staff. Directs and organizes nurse educators to meet the educational needs of the nursing staff. Evaluates the department's performance and ensures that all federal and state regulatory requirements are met. In collaboration with the Director of Nursing, participates in the development of Standards for Professional Nursing Practice and continual quality improvement. Establish and promotes policies and procedures which promote quality patient care.\n

Full-time: Days 40 hrs. exempt \n

Essential Responsibilities:\n\nDevelops department goals and objectives. Develops training programs to meet organization training and regulatory needs. Consults to all departments regarding their educational needs.\nCoordinates hospital-operated schools and allied health education affiliated programs.\nMaintains training records and competency skills and competency programs.\nCoordinates classroom\/meeting room facilities and instructional aids.\nParticipates in various committees and meetings as required. Attends in services on professional organization as hospital representative in educational matters.\nDevelops and maintains a database of education\/training information.\nPlans, organizes, directs and supervises nursing and house wide educational service\/programs and formulates policies and practices. Develops community programs.\nDevelops various reports for managements' review. Develops and recommends department budget and ensures department operates within budget.\n\n

Minimum Qualifications:\n

Education Master's Degree (preferred) \n

Experience Sufficient previous teaching\/training experience in an educational or health care institution\n

Licensure RN, State of Connecticut (required)\n

Knowledge\/Skills\/Abilities\n\nAbility to handle multiple demands and deadlines.\nAbility to communicate effectively.\nAbility to utilize various software packages to carryout position responsibilities.\nDemonstrated leadership and educational skills.\n\n
