Job Purpose
Based in Singapore, this regional role reports to the Head of Regulatory Compliance, Assurance and Privacy – Asia, with a dotted reporting line into Chief Compliance Officer – Singapore. This position is primarily responsible for leading and supporting the establishment, implementation, oversight and monitoring of the Compliance framework and programs applicable to a newly formed partner support and service organization supporting High Net Worth Businesses across Singapore, Hong Kong and Bermuda. This role will also represent Compliance leading and to provide support to all other HNW Asia regional projects and initiatives as required.
This role will provide day to day support, advisory, monitoring and oversight of general compliance risks including but not limited to establishment and maintenance of compliance policies, procedures, manuals and controls to manage regulatory compliance risks in accordance with applicable regulations and Sun Life’s Enterprise-wide Compliance Risk Management Framework in HNW businesses. Other duties include implementation and management of the Financial Crimes, Fraud, Privacy and Conduct programs.
This role will work closely with Chief Compliance Officers, 2LoD and 3LoD Control functions, Business teams across Enterprise and Business Units to support the overall compliance and business objectives in Sun Life.
Major Accountabilities
Support mandates of Asia Chief Compliance Officer and CEO High Net Worth BusinessBuild, maintain and oversee implementation of Compliance programs and policies including Regulatory Compliance, Financial Crimes, Fraud, Privacy and ConductDraft, maintain, and disseminate procedures, records, and reports involving various regulatory matters as needed.Work closely and coordinate with Chief Compliance Officers to ensure compliance programs are effective and aligned adhering to all relevant regulatory and compliance objectivesAct as Data Protection Officer, Fraud Reporting Officer, and other applicable regulatory positions as required.Oversee Regulatory Compliance developments relevant to HNW operations and develop strategy to improve awareness and adoption of compliance requirementsRepresent Compliance function to support HNW business and compliance initiatives and projects.Work with senior management and other key constituencies to encourage, promote and enhance a “tone from the top” culture that supports the Code of Conduct, encourages ethical behaviour and a commitment to compliance with applicable laws and regulations.Provide compliance advisory and help build governance on digital directives.Specialized Knowledge/Skills
Financial services laws, rules and regulations as they pertain to global financial institutions, including knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements for jurisdictions under Asia’s coverage (with focus in Bermuda, Hong Kong, Singapore). Awareness of Canadian regulatory requirements is a plus.Industry experience with sound comprehension of relevant life insurance and wealth management laws, regulations, best practices and guidelinesStrong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills with good practical judgmentOutstanding ability to understand and manage different types of compliance issues, reporting, and be able to identify trends and patterns and present to senior stakeholdersExperience working in a matrixed environment and influencing all levels of stakeholders to ensure successful management of regulatory compliance risks. Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business or related field preferred.More than 10 years of compliance management experience in local or regional leadership rolesDemonstrated expert level of understanding of High Net Worth and life insurance products and their relevant regulatory compliance principlesHands-on working compliance knowledge with focus in Singapore, Hong Kong and BermudaFamiliar with insurance compliance risks including Conduct, Financial Crimes, Privacy and Fraud in Asia regionExperience in senior stakeholders’ management and ability to operate in a fast changing and growth environmentStrong communication (written and oral), research and presentation skills.Proven leadership ability, thinker and driverAptitude and interest to lead and transform through technology and digital solutionsJob Category:
