Job Overview/Summary: 

The Director, Global Supply Chain Strategy Planning and Management, is responsible for leading the strategic planning process with the Chief Global Supply Chain Officer (CGSCO).  This will include strategy setting, innovation incubation and at-scale planning for successful projects, project performance management, and coordination with other programs across IRC on individual projects and overall strategy.

This is a senior position requiring leadership, strategic focus, management expertise, personal initiative, and excellent relationship-building skills. The Director is a member of the leadership team of GSC and works closely with the Directors of GSC Units. They report to and work closely on strategy with the Chief Global Supply Chain Officer (CGSCO).  The Dep. Director has a dotted line to the Senior Director, Finance and Operations.

 

Major Responsibilities: 

Provide critical thought partnership to GSC’s Extended Senior Management Team (ESMT), as well as other key stakeholders (e.g. IT, Research and Innovation, Finance, Program Delivery, etc.) to form solutions to humanitarian sector supply chain challenges, against our own strategy and beyond to other relevant solutions.For agreed upon solutions, lead incubation and piloting of projects.  Working with the other GSC deputy directors and the directors, as well as other stakeholders, create impactful project strategies and implementation plans to monitor progress and impact.  Lead project cost estimation and ongoing budget tracking.  Facilitate scheduling, assignment of work, project meetings, status updates, and stakeholder communications. Conduct post-implementation reviews to assess project success support operationalization at scale of successful solutions.With CGSCO, drive the annual strategy planning process, which translates multiyear strategies into annual priorities and work plans for the team, well communicated and supported by internal partners.In conjunction with cross-organization stakeholders, establish a clear strategy scorecard to track progress towards goals and to help communicate consistently in the team and to the wider organization about GSC’s priorities and progress.Refine a system for tracking progress toward broader foundation goals and GSC’s contributions to those goals, working with the ESMT.Collaborate closely with the CGSCO and GSC leadership to shape and advance the supply chain data architecture and reporting strategy in partnership with the Global Finance Operations team. This includes contributing to strategic planning, setting priorities, gathering and refining business requirements, and ensuring alignment with broader organizational goals.Maintain a dotted line with the Global Finance Operations team to ensure alignment on GSC and Global Finance strategies.  Support the FinOps team to analyze and define current and future state GSC business requirements and processes. Maintain a productive working relationship with finance and other business owners, project sponsors, system users, and vendors.Interacts with project owners, senior technical personnel, senior executives, and other functional or support organizations.

Job Requirements:

At least 12 years of progressive leadership experience across strategy and operational roles and at least 15 years of experience overall.Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required.  An advanced degree is preferred; ideally an MBA, MEng Supply Chain, or a master's degree in a relevant discipline.Experience working in an international organization is required; a non-profit preferred.Progressive experience in management consulting is preferred.Excels in critical thinking and strategy development.Proven effectiveness in leading the formulation and management of the strategy process/function for a large, matrixed, and international team. Also able to anticipate implementation challenges and work collaboratively to smooth out execution.Experienced \"thought partner\" to senior leadership; with a track record of significant contribution to strategic milestones.Demonstrated success in making or participating in strategic investments in breakthrough technologies.Experience building capability, both internally within our own organization and externally with a range of partners - is preferred.Proven strength in structured problem solving and strategic business planning, with the ability to synthesize disparate information and critically analyze complex situations.Strong quantitative and financial knowledge to understand, explain, and conceptualize analyses using global statistical information to inform strategic planning.Demonstrated ability to build strong partnerships inside and outside the organization and to work in a politically complex environment.Expertise utilizing and facilitating others’ use of project management software and tools required.Excellent verbal and written communication skills (i.e. day-to-day discussions, team meetings, presentations, written status updates, project documentation, etc.), as well as an overall ability to be clear and concise in all communications required.Strong organizational and time-management skills; proven ability to prioritize and deliver on time required.Ability to work both independently and in a dynamic, cross-functional global team structure required.

Working Environment:

100% remote work will be considered     Occasional domestic and international travel (up to 10%)

 

Compensation: Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget.  Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
