Director, Generative AI Software Engineering

Job Summary

Job Description

We are looking for a hands-on Technical AI Leader with a strong software engineering background and practical experience integrating AI into the software development lifecycle. This role will lead our efforts to transform how engineering teams across the organization build software by developing a horizontal prompt library and scaling toward agentic AI systems tailored to various tech stacks.

You will work at the intersection of software engineering and AI enablement, applying tools such as GitHub Copilot, Amazon Q, Helios Assist, and others to real-world development workflows, building reusable prompt patterns, and later leading automation through LLM-powered agents. This is a newly created role with greenfield opportunities!

What you will do

Lead technical development of AI-enhanced engineering practices across application development teams.

Build and maintain a centralized prompt engineering library (horizontal use cases) that can be used across various domains and tech stacks.

Customize, refine, and optimize prompts for tools like GitHub Copilot, Amazon Q, Helios Assist, etc.

Collaborate with software engineers to identify areas where AI can increase productivity, code quality, and development velocity.

Prototype and lead evolution toward agentic models (AI-powered autonomous development assistants) that integrate into CI/CD workflows.

Set standards, patterns, and guidelines for scalable, safe, and effective prompt engineering practices.

Work closely with platform, security, and architecture teams to ensure alignment and compliance

What you need to succeed

Must have

Minimum of 7 years of software engineering experience in full-stack or backend development.  Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience

Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience using AI coding tools such as GitHub Copilot, Amazon Q, Helios Assist, or similar

Strong understanding and experience in delivering software development by prompt engineering, context design, and LLM-driven development

Familiarity with agent-based architectures or autonomous agents is a strong plus.

Deep knowledge of one or more modern programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, C#).

Proven ability to drive change across engineering teams, with a builder’s mindset and a passion for developer experience.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience leading cross-functional technical initiatives

Bachelor’s degree CompSci or related degree compliance

Nice to Have:

Experience working with AI platforms such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or Hugging Face.

Exposure to software development metrics and productivity tooling.

Experience in cloud-native development (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

Background in platform engineering or developer enablement.

Prior experience in banking, brokerage and/or fintech
