The Ascension St. Vincent Foundation is the philanthropic arm for Ascension St. Vincent ministries in Indiana, raising funds from grateful patients and their families, corporate and foundation contributors, physicians, nurses and staff, and community members. Gifts to the Foundation support programs, services and technology that benefit our patients and their families.


The Director of Development works closely with the Vice President of Foundation to develop strategies to meet the fundraising goals and create sustainable revenue for the organization. This position manages a personal portfolio and effectively qualifies, cultivates, solicits and stewards donors, and participates and oversees strategic decisions that impact Foundation operations. Responsibilities

Operations

Work closely with the Vice President and Foundation Directors to formulate development plans with targets, goals and realistic timetables for Ascension Indiana Foundations; create and execute plans that support and build upon KPIs and SMART goals

Moves management/major gifts

Manage a portfolio of 75+ donors and actively coordinate, schedule and solicit major gift support with special attention to donors of $25,000+; Develop relationships and partnerships with senior administrators, physicians, nurses, associates, board members, volunteers, and community contacts to identify grateful individuals and families as well as individuals who support the work and mission of St. VincentAssist with major gift donor recognition/naming opportunity process that includes availability, minimum gift requirements, and descriptions, and serve as an information resource for staff and volunteersAssist with the development and plan of action for capital and major fundraising campaignsAssist with supporting board and committee involvementServe as a resource and ongoing support for Directors in other Indiana regions

Grateful Patient Fundraising

Lead and manage the implementation and coordination of a statewide grateful patient fundraising programWork with Hospital and Clinical leaders to assist in the implementation of the grateful patient fundraising programPartner with Physician Champions to manage and guide referrals, prospects and donors through the grateful patient cycle resulting in major gift and annual donor acquisitionWork closely with Major Gift team members, ensuring synergy and strategic involvement, and the Moves Management team to ensure adequate screening and examination of potential philanthropic opportunities for grateful patientsPrepare and deliver presentations, speeches, and reports as needed to a variety of audiences to increase awareness of the programCoordinate the training and educational initiatives of the program across the systemManage the Development Coordinator in the creation of statewide collateral resulting in an increased visibility of the grateful patient program

Annual Giving and Events

Oversee the planning, management and execution of Foundation signature and third-party eventsIn partnership with the Vice President and Directors, develop detailed plans of action for capital and major fundraising campaignsManage the development and execution of detailed plans of action for all annual giving initiatives that align with the strategic priorities of the hospital, partnering with internal ministry and system leaders as appropriateCollaborate, develop and lead a balanced fundraising approach while maintaining focus on cost to raise a dollarManage annual revenue and expense goals for campaigns and projects, and collaborate with the business office and development team members to efficiently forecast anticipated revenue and expensesServe as a resource and ongoing support for Directors in other Indiana regions, including grateful patient fundraising, annual giving and events

Other

Manage annual giving and corporate giving development team membersCollaborate with the Directors on a communication plan that supports the strategic priorities of Indiana FoundationsManage development team membersMaintain accurate and timely tracking of all donor activities using Raiser’s Edge donor databaseOversee budget and timelines for assigned areas, ensuring deadlines are met
Requirements

Education:

High School diploma equivalency with 5 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required, with 2 of those years being in leadership/management OR Associate's degree/Bachelor's degree with 3 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required, with 2 of those years being in leadership/management.
Additional Preferences Master’s degree highly preferred5+ years of experience in a combination of fundraising/development, sales, account management, communications, healthcare, or related fieldProven success in soliciting major gift donations of $25,000+
