Role Overview: Director, Facilities & Workplace Services – CoStar Group
Arlington, VA | In office, Monday – Friday
CoStar Group is seeking a Director, Facilities & Workplace Services to lead the strategy, operations, asset management, and hands-on execution of workplace services and management for our 550,000 SF owner-occupied, multi-tenant global headquarters in Arlington, VA.
This is a hands-on, player-coach leadership role with a clear mandate to optimize cost, eliminate waste, and continuously improve operational performance while maintaining a best-in-class workplace experience. This role is not a pure oversight or delegation-only position. The Director is expected to actively shape strategy and remain directly involved in execution, decision-making, project leadership, and issue resolution. Success requires visible ownership, operational depth, and a willingness to be in the details when needed.
The Director owns the performance of the Arlington asset end-to-end and plays a key role in aligning services, processes, and standards across the broader workplace portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
Asset & Operational Ownership
Own and lead all corporate workplace services and operations for 200,000 SF owner-occupied spaces
Oversee the asset management of the 550,000 SF multi-tenant building, with direct oversight of property management team and building engineering team.
Maintain regular, hands-on engagement in day-to-day operations, including frequent property walks and direct involvement in operational decision-making.
Serve as the accountable owner of building performance, experience, and outcomes—going beyond reviewing reports to full ownership.
Cost Transformation & Financial Leadership
Own and manage the building-operations cost center, including full accountability for budget development, execution, and outcomes.
Lead an ongoing cost-transformation effort focused on identifying, reducing, and preventing waste, inefficiency, and unnecessary spend.
Personally engage in contract reviews, vendor negotiations, scope optimization, and service-model decisions.
Establish and track clear financial and operational metrics to demonstrate savings, productivity gains, and value creation.
Workplace Services, Hospitality & Experience
Deliver a white-glove, hospitality-driven workplace experience for the Global HQ corporate staff across all amenities while balancing service excellence with fiscal discipline.
Lead the design and execution of an executive services strategy, remaining personally engaged in high-visibility and high-impact needs.
Hold vendors and service providers accountable through clear KPIs, service-level expectations, and active performance management.
Player-Coach Leadership
Lead and develop an internal facilities and 3rd party operations team while remaining directly involved in critical initiatives and execution.
Provide active oversight of property management and building engineering teams, with hands-on involvement in problem-solving, prioritization, and performance management.
Step in directly to manage escalations, complex issues, and time-sensitive matters—modeling ownership and accountability.
Project Management & Construction Coordination
Personally lead and manage capital improvement projects from planning through delivery, applying disciplined project management practices.
Coordinate construction activities across internal teams, external consultants, contractors, and tenants to minimize disruption.
Remain engaged throughout project execution rather than delegating solely to third parties.
Enterprise Alignment & Portfolio Support
Partner closely with department leaders across Workplace, Security, IT, HR, and other functions to ensure alignment on services, processes, and operational priorities.
Contribute to portfolio-level coordination, standardization, and continuous improvement efforts.
Act as a trusted operator and advisor to senior leaders on workplace performance, costs, and future needs.
Who Will Succeed in This Role
Leaders who enjoy being accountable for outcomes, not just directing others.
Operators who are comfortable rolling up their sleeves while still thinking strategically.
Supervisors who see cost discipline as value creation, not just cost cutting.
Candidates who want visibility, responsibility, and real ownership—not distance from the work.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited, not-for-profit college or university.
10+ years of experience leading facilities and workplace operations for large, urban, HQ office.
A track record of commitment to prior employers.
Prior experience and responsibility overseeing a multi-tenanted high-rise asset.
Demonstrated success owning cost centers and delivering measurable cost savings and operational improvements.
Proven experience overseeing property management and building engineering teams.
Experience leading capital projects and coordinating construction in occupied environments.
Strong leadership presence and ability to operate credibly with senior leadership.
High sense of ownership, urgency, and sound judgment.
Experience in lease and transaction management.
Ability to travel on an as needed basis.
