The Director Environmental Services is responsible for ensuring a clean and safe environment for all employees, patients and visitors at Cobb Hospital. The individual in this role will be expected to effectively manage budgets, staffing and all other daily operational components of the environmental services in addition to monitoring key metrics and developing actions plans as appropriate.
In addition to daily EVS operations, the Director will be expected to serve as a key leader and role model on the Cobb campus to ensure that all hospital goals are met and that continuous process improvement efforts are made. This leader will be responsible for maintaining compliance in the EVS department with WellStar policies and procedures, as well as with other regulatory and oversight bodies, including The Joint Commission, OSHA, etc. The individual in this role will also be expected to grow within the role to take on additional responsibilities in the future, as designated by Cobb Hospital senior leadership. Individual will focus on maintaining and improving team member engagement.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
EVS Operations
* Serve a hospital lead to ensure efficient and effective operations of the environmental services department including, but not limited to:
* Oversight of employee scheduling to ensure proper coverage throughout the hospital 24/7
* Proactive monitoring, reporting, and implementation of action plans around key metrics including, but not limited to turn around times, infection rates and customer service scores.
* Monitoring and oversight of hospital environment to ensure maximum cleanliness in all areas always.
* Creation and monitoring of reports to track environmental services impact on hospital throughput
* Monitoring patient satisfaction scores as they relate to hospital environment, and creating and implementing plans to continuously improve patient satisfaction
* Responsible for the development and oversight for both routine and deep-cleaning process/schedules
* Creation and oversight of departmental budget
Hospital Leadership
* Serve as facility leader and key interface with Administration on all environmental issues at Cobb Hospital including, but not limited to:
* Moves
* Hospital image (internal and external)
* Provide direction and recommendations for facility improvements including both cosmetic and structural enhancements
* Serve as resource for hospital employees and management through proactive monitoring of all areas including regular rounding to uncover issues and solicit feedback on issues
* Participation in process improvement efforts both within and outside the Environmental Services department
* Responsible for ensuring compliance with Joint Commission standards to ensure that the facility is in a continuous state of survey readiness
* Responsible for ensuring safe work environment (as related to the facility issues) for all patients, visitors and employees
Project Management
* Effectively manage projects and assignments as directed. Projects may include those specific to environmental services or those outside the scope of that department. Certain project work will require individual to lead other team members. Expectations for effective project management include, but are not limited to the following:
* Define scope, goals and deliverables
* Develop project plans and associated communications documents
* Effectively communicate project expectations to team members in a timely and clear fashion
* Estimate resources and participants needed to achieve project goals
* Set and continually manage project expectations with team members
* Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel
* Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team
* Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools
* Track project milestones and deliverables
* Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation and presentations
* Manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises and devise contingency plans
* Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work

Complies with all WellStar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
Required Minimum Education:Bachelor's Degree is required.Master's Degree is preferred.
Required Minimum Experience:Minimum 10 years of experience in environmental services in a large healthcare facility is required.
Required Minimum Skills:Must have strong communication skills and be proficient in project management and team buildingAdditionally, must have strong budgeting/analytical skills as well as computer skills including the proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of programs
