**JOB SUMMARY**
As a member of the Global Design Team, this position is responsible to ensure Marriott International’s Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP)Design Standards for New Built and Conversion Hotels are implemented in Greater China.
A key role of the position will also to be updated on the latest standards and streamline MEP strategies across regions and ensuring best practices are implemented.
The position will also be expected to lead a team of third-party (MEP) design consultants that are located in various regions within Greater China.
**CANDIDATE PROFILE**
Education and Experience
+ Engineering Degree, specializing in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or Plumbing.
+ At least 15 years of experience in the build environment specially on hospitality projects.
+ Knowledgeable about innovation and trends both inside and outside of industry
+ Strong communications skills (written and verbal)
+ Excellent business acumen
+ Complex problem solving & creative solution skills
+ Ability to build strong working relationships across departments & teams
+ Ability to negotiate and be flexible when appropriate
+ Excellent organizational skills & ability to manage multiple priorities & resources
+ Knowledgeable about hospitality design and operations
+ Be able to take a project from MEP design through the construction process, start to finish
+ Strong listening skills, hearing what customers and co-workers are trying to communicate in verbal, written and all forms of communication
+ Must be able to build and maintain strong relationships with all levels throughout Marriott International and our Development partners
+ Must be responsive to the customers’ needs
+ Must be able to mentor and provide support to foster an environment of empowerment
+ Must have the ability to solve problems that will meet the expectations of the brands and the guests, while maintaining sound economic judgment for the Owner, and Marriott International
**Key Role and Responsibilities:**
+ Manage the overall MEP review workstream in Greater China.
+ Organize and plan for resources to support the MEP discipline for all projects in Greater China.
+ Comprehensive review of MEP design process and scope of works.
+ Identify opportunities and area of improvement in terms of process/governess and productivity.
+ Lead MEP design innovation workstream relating to energy conservation.
+ MEP standard update and communicate design requirements from MI HQ.
+ Work with Operation Engineering teams to align with their requirements.
+ Collaborate with Procurement team on MEP equipment procurement solution.
+ Explore alternative consultant sourcing in the market.
+ Review and approve claims submissions from 3 rd party consultants.
**Other responsibilities in New Build, Conversion and Renovation Project Work:**
+ Review MEP Engineering design documentation prepared and submitted by owner/developer/other consultants at various key stages of the design process (e.g., concept, schematic, design development, final design) and perform a quality assurance review to assess compliance with Marriott's brand standards.
+ Review and respond to owners and their consultants' proposals for deviations from the Marriott's brand requirements.
+ Perform services in a professional manner, on schedule, within the budget and to the quality standards required by Marriott International.
+ Monitor and assess owner's design and construction progress on TSA projects, coordinate internal Marriott teams to complete quality assurance reviews and to notify Marriott Operations regarding the projected hotel opening date.
+ Communicate and coordinate with internal departments and its affiliates and consultants (including but not limited to Marriott departments of Global Design Greater China, Loss Prevention, Life Safety, Information Resources, Operations and Development) on design reviews and issues; incorporate their feedback and communicate a consolidated response to owner and its design consultants.
+ Initiate and attend meetings and conduct site inspections in accordance with the TSA trip schedule.
+ Provide updates on milestones based on the reporting documents & requirements and provide latest progress updates to Global Design project management team when requested.
+ Conduct handover inspections, system testing and commissioning, including providing handover reports to the hotel team once the property is in the pre-opening phase.
+ For conversion projects, conduct property inspections and create Property Improvement Plans (PIP).
