What You’ll Be Doing
CIBC’s Electronic Trading Group is a leader in electronic execution, offering clients Direct Market Access (DMA), algorithmic equity trading products, and advanced trading tools for strategy implementation and best execution. Reporting to the Executive Director, Electronic Trading, you will be responsible for providing exceptional client coverage, managing electronic trading assignments, supporting trading activities, and driving continuous process improvement.

How You’ll Succeed
Client Coverage & Support - Act as a primary point of contact for clients, addressing requests and supporting day-to-day electronic trading activities for institutional and retail clients. Provide market color, product expertise, and execution advice to clients. Monitor client activity, address inquiries, and resolve issues in real time.
Trade Support & Troubleshooting - Assist with client reporting, trade reconciliation, and technology troubleshooting to ensure seamless execution and resolution of issues.
Process & Efficiency Improvement - Identify and implement technology-driven solutions to optimize trading operations, seeking efficiencies across Canadian and regional business units.
Cross-Functional Liaison - Collaborate with middle office, back office, technology teams, and clients to resolve technical and settlement issues.
Compliance & Risk Management - Ensure strict adherence to compliance and operational risk controls in line with company and regulatory standards.
Consulting & Innovation - Provide value-added consulting to management, contributing to the development and maintenance of electronic trading systems and processes, and develop innovative solutions to business challenges.
Relationship Management - Manage internal and external relationships to facilitate the adoption of new products, services, and processes, while effectively managing change.
Who You Are
You can demonstrate a minimum of 3 years’ experience in Sales & Trading, preferably in equities and/or derivatives (futures/options).
You are technically savvy with a strong understanding of market structure and familiarity with algorithmic trading strategies and smart order routing. Experience with programming languages such as VBA, SQL, Python. Technical proficiency with FIX protocol, EMS/OMS platforms, and trading analytics. Experience with technology in a financial setting.
You have attained a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (preferred).
You are a certified professional. Canadian regulatory registrations (CSC, DFC, CPH, Traders Training, OLC, or working towards FLC).
You’re goal oriented. Proactive, motivated, and detail-oriented with the ability to work independently. Flexible schedule, including the ability to work overnight hours for international market coverage. Superior problem-solving, analytical, and judgment skills.
You have excellent oral and written communication skills for all levels of the organization coupled with strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
