Director, eCommerce Development

Lead engineering excellence and drive the digital sales platform that shapes Spectrum’s customer experience. As Director, eCommerce Development, you’ll translate technical strategy into effective execution, manage senior talent, and ensure teams deliver high-quality solutions that advance business growth and customer satisfaction.


How You’ll Make an Impact

Lead engineering delivery across multiple product pods, ensuring software is scalable and released reliablyCoach Senior Managers and Tech Leads, building strong leaders through feedback and accountabilityEnforce engineering standards, including code review quality, testing, and release disciplineResolve cross-team challenges such as dependencies, resource allocation, and environment issues, aligning efforts with Product and QACollaborate with the Senior Director to turn technical strategy into actionable plansIntegrate AI tools into engineering workflows to improve velocity and code qualityInfluence hiring, team structure, and engineering practices, balancing strategic planning with hands-on coordination

Working Conditions

Work in an office environment with occasional travel, plus the option to work from home one day each week through Spectrum’s Hybrid Work Policy

Required Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, related technical discipline, or equivalent experience

Experience

8+ years in software engineering with progressive leadership responsibility4+ years managing engineering teams, including other managers or senior tech leads3+ years owning engineering delivery across multiple product teams (15+ engineers)

Skills

Ability to drive engineering standards and quality across teamsExperience working with cross-functional partners in product, design, architecture, and QAStrong technical judgment for architecture decisions and risk assessmentSkilled at managing both full-time and contractor engineering talentProven success delivering large-scale consumer-facing web applicationsEffective communication with business and technical audiencesUnderstanding of modern web architecture (Angular preferred), Node.js orchestration, CI/CD pipelines, performance engineering, observability, analytics instrumentation, testing strategies, cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred), accessibility standards, and security practicesLeadership, people management, talent development, delivery execution, cross-functional partnership, stakeholder communication, conflict resolution

Preferred Qualifications

Education

MS or advanced degree preferred

Experience

Experience in cable, telecommunications, software or online servicesBuilding high-traffic acquisition funnels, optimizing conversion and A/B testingTelecom domain knowledge, agile metrics, design system governance, headless CMS, AI-assisted development, team scaling, SDLC process improvementsExperience leading eCommerce engineering in telecom or similar regulated industriesMaster's degree in Computer Science, EngineeringProven track record implementing large-scale digital transformation initiativesFamiliarity with MACH architecture principles and microservices migrationExperience managing distributed or remote engineering teamsProficiency in vendor management for software development partnershipsDemonstrated ability to drive adoption of emerging technologies such as generative AI, edge computing or real-time personalization toolsBackground in budget ownership and financial planning for engineering organizations
