**Job Description Summary** **Job Description** **1. Position Summary (Purpose and Fundamental Goals of the Position):** The associate is responsible for leading efforts to drive growth in Japan, forcused in DS business unit strategies. The incumbent will drive the development, communication, and implementation of business unit growth strategies that leverages capabilities within and across business groups and functional lines. He/she will focus on expanding existing and expanded growth opportunities that enable the business unit to achieve growth and financial objectives. In this position, the associate will support across the strategy initiatives across key commercial customer segmetns, e.g, Clinical Commercial Labs, hospitals/clinics, and oversee key digitalization initiatives, including omni‐channel customer reach, leveraging informatics to create integrated solution, etc. The focus will be on the emphasis on key growth solution portfolio including but not limited to the key product portfolio area. Identifying opportunities for leverage within and across these solutions and customer segments will be a priority. Capability building will be an additional priority. The incumbent will also be key linkages and coordination between commercial teams and product marketing team, market access team, within the country to develop and communicate integrated strategy that can drive long‐term growth. In addition, the associate will oversee the successful development of DS Japan by uncovering, screening and prioritizing opportunities for business growth with a focus on licensing and partnering, and support in prospecting potential acquisition targets. These can be opportunities for existing products within new markets / segments (market development) or opportunities for new products emerging from cooperation with research groups, pharmaceutical companies, universities and thought leaders within the academic sector (business development). **2. Key Responsibilities (Top 3‐5 tasks & outcomes for which this position will be** **accountable)** **Strategic Planning:**  Leads the development and implementation of strategic planning processes that support the goals of DS Japan. Works with cross business teams (Commerical, Product Marketing, Strategic Applications/KOL relations, Service) to develop high‐quality short and long‐term revenue and financial forecasts, and establish planning best practices  Leads the the Annual Strategic Review (ASR) and is responsible for the content at business level to ensure proper and consistent identification of opportunities, risks and related factors. Engage with commercial leaders in the process of continuous ASR improvement that ensures optimal engagement with ASR stakeholders  Works with segmented commercial leader to run profiles and/or develop growth initiatives to address evolving challenges in the local market environments, and developed tailored strategy for different customer segments. Job Description  Lead digitalization intiativies for DS Japan, developing and implementing omni‐channel strategy, e.g, where to leverage inside sales, how to improve digital marketing and sales ROI, how to leverage informatics to complete the solution selling in order to address different customer needs  Keeps abreast of emerging industry trends, changing customer needs and technology developments through business and scientific conferences, customer visit and maintain a network of high‐level medical technology, diagnostic and life sciences industry contacts. **Business Development:**  Identify key un‐met needs and potential licensing/partnership targets  Actively manage the licensing/partnership process, working with business, legal and finance teams to develop investment theses/business cases and execute the contracts  Generate business case documentation for priority projects in the Country.  Work with the regional team and WW BU to align priorities. **3. Educational Qualifications & Previous Experience (No. of years as well as type of** **previous experience needed e.g. exposure to high growth markets, managed a large** **team etc)**  Preferably B.S. or B.A. degree in science or business discipline, with experience in strategic marketing and business development. MBA preferred, except in situations that have demonstrated the requisite business development, product acquisition and commercialization experience.  5‐15 years of experience in the medical technology and/or clinical diagnostic industry with around 3‐5 years of supervisory experience.  Preferably with management consulting experiences in Japan **4. Professional Skills & Key Competencies (5‐7 most relevant skills e.g. data analysis and** **competencies e.g. ability to manage uncertainty.)**  Strong planning experience at business, regional and corporate levels. Demonstrated strategy development, planning, market and finance analysis, business leadership capabilities to produce the anticipated revenue results. Proven reasoning abilities and sound judgment to overcome roadblocks to success and manage risk.  Proven ability to understand opportunities, competitive environments, customer needs, and technology solutions and transform them into revenue generating businesses. Experienced at creatively and successfully identifying and developing new markets and revenue growth opportunities.  Strong experience and understanding in at least one, preferably several of the following areas in the markets: microbiology, molecular testing, cancer testing, etc, including clinical diagnositics customer segmentation base, industry structure, manufacturers, distribution channels and health care systems.  Must be a strong communicator with excellent presentation, written and verbal skills.  Proven entrepreneurial and external relationship management skills and results.  Ability to cross‐functionally influence associates and mobilize functions in a teamwork and collaborative style.
