The Director, Data Product Management is a key leadership role within Global Wealth Management (GWM) and the Data Centre of Excellence (Data CoE). This role is responsible for defining and executing the data product strategy in alignment with GWM's data ambitions and business strategies. This role involves leading a team of data product managers and working closely with data stewards within the business lines, technology partners, and other stakeholders, to ensure the delivery of high-quality, timely, and relevant data products. The Director, Data Product Management will drive business value through data, maintain a collaborative culture of good data management and analytics practice and foster an insights-driven culture within the team and across GWM.
**Is this role right for you? In this role you will:**
+ Define and champion the data product vision, strategy, and roadmap for GWM, aligning with business objectives and the overall data strategy
+ Define a strategic, use-case-based approach to enabling and growing data product capabilities and developing data maturity
+ Ensure data governance is properly established and functioning as designed and that critical processes are defined and followed, including data quality measurement and triage, data incident escalation, and data incident management
+ Work closely with data stewards to ensure data products adhere to data governance policies and standards of Scotiabank
+ Establish, monitor, and report on KPIs that include data quality, analytics ROI, data monetization, and data governance compliance
+ Ensure data products have clear ownership, metadata, and quality metrics
+ Oversee the entire data product lifecycle, from ideation and design to development, launch, and iteration
+ Establish and maintain a cohesive, integrated approach to data and related analytics functions across GWM, including cost-effective acquisition and use of data within a data product
+ Build and lead a high-performing data product team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement
+ Work closely with the enterprise Chief Data Office (CDO) and GWM Technology to align data strategies, standards, and governance, including access controls
+ Communicate effectively with business and technical stakeholders, aligning needs, capabilities, and technology
+ Support the design of robust data operations processes, monitoring, and reporting practices that ensure data arrives in a timely fashion, is accurate, suits business needs, and is used securely and properly
+ Create an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct
**Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if you have:**
+ Undergraduate degree in commerce, technology, or a related field
+ 5+ years’ experience with data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, etc. and cloud services such as GCP and Azure is preferred
+ 5+ years’ experience with analytics platforms such as Power BI, and other data visualization tools is preferred
+ Experience in AI / Gen AI related use cases preferred
+ Proven experience leading division or corporate-level data and analytics teams within a large enterprise; Financial Services experience preferred
+ Strong knowledge of industry standards, trends in investment data management, data quality, data storage and distribution solutions, data governance, and ownership
+ Excellent negotiation skills when communicating with business and technical stakeholders and aligning needs, capabilities, and technology
+ Proven experience in balancing strategic vision and practical implementation and execution.
+ Results-focused, with strong team leadership and program management skills
+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to forge strong relationships across the diverse teams
+ Exceptional attention to detail
