The Director, Corporate Security for Major League Baseball will oversee a team of security professionals who are responsible for the daily security operations of all MLB offices, buildings, and other facilities, including physical security and technology systems. The Director will assess and identify potential security or life safety issues, develop preparedness plans, coordinate and implement these plans, and provide crisis management control in the event of an emergency.
The Director must work effectively with local, state, and federal law enforcement with jurisdiction at and around MLB offices and facilities, MLB landlords, security vendors, and other contract personnel. The Director will supervise a number of full-time and contract security personnel, as needed, will manage MLB’s 24/7 Global Security Operations Center, and will report to the Senior Vice President, Security & Ballpark Operations.
Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and maintain physical office security policies and procedures in accordance with applicable laws and regulations Work closely with other MLB departments and personnel (Office Operations, Human Resources, Protective Intelligence) to ensure all corporate security operations are aligned with MLB business needs Ensure that all building security personnel are assigned to their respective posts and are proficient in their roles Maintain effective communication with security staff, vendors, and contractors Document all related security events as necessary Manage all security technology systems, including their daily operation and long-term maintenance plans Provide clarity and consistency for daily and emergency operational programs Organize, develop, and implement building-specific training exercises to enhance the readiness of staff and employees to respond to different security and emergency situations In coordination with the Director, Protective Intelligence, assess potential security threats that could impact buildings and employees Work closely with the building (MLB landlord) staff and building security personnel to ensure that standard operating procedures and crisis management plans are formulated, planned, and executed properly and are compliant with local laws Provide direction as situations arise or where there is a risk or concern, whether general or specific, and after an incident has occurred Report all violations of corporate security policy and procedures to senior security and HR management Ensure that all fire/life safety protocols are up to date and implemented Conduct regular walk-throughs and security inspections for MLB Headquarters offices and others, as needed Take proactive steps to provide a safe and secure working environment for staff and visitors Interview, hire, and train additional security staff and contract personnel, as necessary Conduct risk assessments on potential security department vendors, independent contractors, and business partners to identify reputational or operational vulnerabilities Represent MLB in appropriate professional organizations and continuing education programs Perform other related duties as directed by Department leadershipQualifications & Skills
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university Proven track record of 10+ years, combining corporate security expertise with law enforcement leadership experience Deep knowledge of standard security best practices and crisis management protocols Experience conducting security and safety related training preferred Ability to liaise with U.S. law enforcement and intelligence personnel Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to accomplish tasks as directed by supervisors Professional demeanor, organized, and detail-oriented Ability to manage deliverables with time-sensitive deadlines Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and implement new ideas to drive the program forward Excellent communication skills, including the ability to conduct briefings that present clear, concise, logic-based conclusions to support and inform the executive decision-making process Ability to handle sensitive information with appropriate discretion This position is based in New York City and is not eligible for remote work Ability to obtain a federal security clearance Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Salary Range: $185,000 - $225,000 (Base Salary) + Bonus
