What you’ll be doing

As the Director, Control Advisory and Assurance, you will play a pivotal role in developing, implementing, and overseeing the second line control assurance team, in addition to providing advisory on control methodology requirements. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure there is adherence to our control framework and support our organizational objectives. You will lead the development, implementation, and management of our control testing assurance programs and will work closely with various departments to ensure our control environment is effective and aligned with regulatory requirements and best practices.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote. 

How you’ll succeed

Internal controls management - Develop and manage the control testing assurance programs, including policies, procedures, and methodologies. Identify areas of improvement, efficiencies and possible control deficiencies and work with stakeholders to develop and implement corrective actions.

Quality assurance - Lead quality assurance initiatives to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal standards. Conduct regular assessments  to evaluate the effectiveness of the control framework and identify areas for improvement.

Collaboration - Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the effectiveness of the control environment. Also provide strategic guidance and support to senior leadership on risk management, control testing and quality assurance-related matters.

Leadership - Provide authentic leadership by developing and coaching team members, fostering an environment of knowledge sharing, collaboration, and effective problem-solving. Building relationships with key partners as you negotiate and influence to ensure alignment of initiatives across dependencies.

Who you are

You have a minimum of 10 years of experience in risk management, internal controls, or compliance. You have strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to enterprise control frameworks.

You can demonstrate excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

You are a caring and accountable leader. You have a proven track record of successfully leading and managing cross-functional teams, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a leadership role.

You’re passionate about people. You have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to influence and build relationships at all levels of the organization.

You are results-oriented. You have the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

You have a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
