Director, Communications

Serve as the primary communications partner to our Legal, Compliance, Finance and Corporate Strategy functions overseeing communication strategy and internal and external communications activities.

Plan and lead initiatives to build communication platforms and develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support the company's strategic goals and priorities.

How you’ll make an impact:
•Partner with the executive leader of the functions this role will directly support to develop and shape communications strategies that strengthen culture, engage employees and support external communications needs.

Lead the development and execution of global internal or external communications activities including high-quality written, web, video and audio collateral (e.g., plans, presentations, messaging, talking points, Q&A, patient profiles)

• Establish and nurture relationships at various levels throughout the company’s businesses, regions and functions to build strong, up-to-date awareness of priorities and challenges to identify opportunities and relevant information
• Collaborate with team members to implement research opportunities that may complement communications plans and strategies
• Partner with the VP of Functional Communications (Internal Communications) and the VP of Business Unit Communications (External Communications) to shape and drive the global internal and external communications strategy.
• Conduct research on, track and proactively identify media opportunities
• Lead the work of external agencies to direct communications activities and projects
• Collaborate on the production of media monitoring summaries and quarterly media reports
• Other incidental duties

What you’ll need (Required):
Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Public Relations or a related field, with previous related experience or equivalent work experience is required

What else we look for (Preferred):

• 12 years of previous related experience OR Master's Degree or equivalent in related field, plus 10 years’ of previous related experience
• Experience leading internal and external communications strategies and activities

• Experience working in the medical technology field, multi-national corporation, or equivalent work

• Proven successful project management skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and related tools and systems
• Excellent documentation and communication skills and interpersonal relationship skills including negotiating and relationship management skills with ability to drive achievement of objectives
• Recognized as an expert in one or more areas with broad-based advanced knowledge within the organization
• Expert understanding of related aspects of communications processes
• Expert understanding of the business, policies and current practice in communications
• Strict attention to detail
• Ability to interact professionally with all organizational levels
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast paced environment
• Represents leadership on projects within multiple areas, interfacing with project managers, communications team and middle management
• Consult in project setting within multiple communications areas, interfacing with low to middle management
• Provides communications leadership to outsourcing partners on a task level, participates on small scale RFP
• Adhere to all company rules and requirements (e.g., pandemic protocols, Environmental Health & Safety rules) and take adequate control measures in preventing injuries to themselves and others as well as to the protection of environment and prevention of pollution under their span of influence/control

For California (CA), the base pay range for this position is $145,000 to $205,000 (highly experienced).
