Prospecting: Researching and identifying new potential clients, such as pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device companies in Japan.Lead generation: Conducting outbound activities, including cold calling, email campaigns, and networking, to generate and qualify new business opportunities.Market research: Staying up-to-date on trends in the Japanese clinical research market, competitive landscape, and product developments.Client engagement: Acting as the first point of contact for prospective clients to understand their needs and articulate PPD's clinical research value proposition.Sales collaboration: Coordinating with Account Executives and other sales and marketing teams to ensure a smooth transition of qualified leads for deeper engagement and deal closure.Performance tracking: Utilizing a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, such as Salesforce, to log all sales activities and provide accurate reports on the sales pipeline.Networking: Attending industry conferences, trade shows, and events in Japan to build and maintain professional relationships. 

Qualifications and skills

Bilingual proficiency: Fluency in business-level Japanese to communicate effectively with local clients and an excellent command of English for internal collaboration with global teams.Cultural knowledge: A deep understanding of Japanese business culture, etiquette, and communication styles is essential for building rapport and navigating business relationships.Industry knowledge: Expertise in the pharmaceutical and clinical research industry is highly preferred. Candidates must quickly learn about PPD's drug discovery, development, and lifecycle management services.Sales and communication skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills for building relationships and presenting information clearly. The role requires being highly motivated and target-driven.Experience: Previous experience in sales, telemarketing, or lead generation is often required, particularly for a senior role.Technical skills: Proficiency with sales enablement tools, CRM software (e.g., Salesforce), and an interest in SaaS or technology solutions is valuable.
