What You’ll Be Doing
The Director, Application Services is a seasoned professional in leadership and coaching responsible for providing direct application delivery services and production support, undertaking new initiatives and base essential support on critical wires payments applications. The payment platform is composed of both vendor software and CIBC-developed components. Globally, the payments industry is undergoing a major transformation to ensure that payments are faster, more efficient, and include structured, richer data traveling with each payment. This adds a complex and exciting dimension to the role, given the constant state of evolution in the industry. The requirement for this role is to stay connected with and aware of all changes in the payments industry and to strategically evolve the CIBC wire payment platform to be flexible, scalable, and adaptable, enabling innovation and agility to meet evolving business needs.

How You’ll Succeed
Delivery and Roadmap: Ensure Regulatory Compliance, accountable for full compliance with all regulatory standards related to wire payments, both globally and domestically. This includes, but is not limited to, SWIFT, OSFI, OFAC, Payments Canada, and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements. Drive Platform Technology Evolution: Responsible for the ongoing evolution and strategic direction of the payment platform technology roadmap. Tightly integrated with key market infrastructures such as the Bank of Canada's Lynx and Hong Kong’s CHATS. The underlying infrastructure includes HPE Nonstop, RHEL, Oracle, IBM MQ, Redhat OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker, JBOSS EAP, HSM and understanding of networking/firewall concept.
Relationship Management: Engage with External Partners ,collaborate with external stakeholders within the global payments’ ecosystem, including organizations such as SWIFT and Payments Canada, to ensure effective integration and alignment. Collaborate on Modernization Initiatives work closely with the Enterprise Wires Modernization team, adopting a unified, “one team” approach. This partnership is critical to supporting the multi-year, multi-million-dollar initiative to modernize the current wires platform.
Strong Leadership: Be a bold and authentic leader who is passionate about developing and coaching to bring out the best in people. Direct, motivate, develop, and manage performance of the management team and key staff.
Who You Are
You can demonstrate experience in : At least 10 to12 years’ experience in the financial services industry and regulatory environments. Exceptional presentation and communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex concepts to diverse audiences, including executive leadership, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams; skilled at tailoring messages to suit both technical and non-technical audiences and facilitating impactful discussions and decision-making. Strong proficiency in major technology incident and problem management. Expertise in product and vendor evaluation, including knowledge of processes for assessing and selecting products, tools, services, and infrastructure components aligned with organizational business needs and architectural principles. Proven ability in vendor management, specifically in maintaining ongoing relationships with vendors providing material IT solutions (both packaged and custom).Planning skills at operational (short-term), tactical (1–4 years), and strategic (5–7 years) levels to support the business plan. Demonstrated experience in leading and managing teams and projects. Expertise in contract management for both project and base resources/vendors, budget management for both base operations and project funding. Skilled in conflict management, with the ability to successfully navigate the organizational landscape and interact purposefully across different levels and lines of business (LOBs).Proficiency in developing business cases, including knowledge of approaches, tools, and techniques for justifying project, equipment, or staffing expenditures by identifying costs, benefits, opportunities, and threats. Weekend and evening work may be required to accommodate application support and implementation oversight. Must be available on call 24/7 to support any business or technology escalations.
You have strong knowledge of: high-value payments ecosystem. It’s an asset if you have knowledge of Industry Payments Modernization and other regulatory and expertise in Canadian payments community.
It’s an advantage if you have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in related field. Have the ability to make judgments regarding the ongoing viability of development phase or strategy based on ability to deliver upon agreed functionality within approved budget and schedule. It is an advantage if you have experience within an Agile environment.
