What is the Opportunity?
The Director, ALM Liability Modeling and Risk Analytics, will lead the design, development and validation of liability modeling and analytical solutions to enable liability-driven investment decision and risk management within the CIO Office function. The ideal candidate will bring deep modeling expertise and the knowledge of insurance products to provide the transparency and predictability of liability cashflows and sensitivities in an efficient manner, enabling the CIO and Investments team to optimize risk-adjusted returns and capital efficiency.
What will you do?
Lead the development, enhancement, and validation of efficient liability cash flows projection models in the need of timely ALM. Measure and explain the liability impacts due to changes of interest rates, credit spreads, inflation and FX to support timely investment decisions and risk management.Collaborate with Actuarial, Investments, and Finance teams to align modeling assumptions and financial impacts with the company’s broader ALM objectives.Integrate liability projections with asset and macroeconomic scenarios to support net investment income forecasting and ALM positioning.Contribute to capital management initiatives by providing analytics to optimize internal and regulatory capital usage while maintaining stability in earnings.Prepare clear and actionable Investment risk management information for Investment Committee.Identify and implement opportunities to enhance modeling processes, improve efficiency, and strengthen governance within data analytics.What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
Experience with AXIS modeling to design, develop, validate and explain modeling results for liability cashflow and sensitivity analysis.Strong knowledge of ALM concepts and the resulting impacts in the IFRS17 measurement and reporting for life insurance company.Understanding of Canadian insurance products (e.g., UL, annuities, participating life) and their liability dynamics.Familiarity with insurance capital management frameworks.Strong communication skills and critical thinking to identify and translate business requirements into measurement approach to provide actionable insights for ALM and investment strategies.Nice-to-have
Programing experience in Python and R.Knowledge of derivative hedging programs and their interaction with liability cashflows.Exposure to stochastic scenario generation for ALM applications.Experience with risk management system such as Risk Watch.What’s in it for you?
