As Director, AI Solution Design Architect, you will lead the strategic design of applied AI solutions across a portfolio of high-impact ELT and ELT-1 use cases of strategic value for the enterprise. You will define technical solution patterns that combine state-of-the-art machine learning, AI and AI Agents, scalable software practices, and enterprise-ready integrations. Your remit will include leading a team that produces reusable solution frameworks, builds evaluation capabilities, and enables internal teams to accelerate development through clear, proven, and reliable AI design practices. This role is ideal for a senior technical leader who thrives at the intersection of architecture, enablement, and applied AI innovation.
Why This Role Matters:This role serves as the connective tissue between innovation and repeatability—designing the glue that holds emerging AI methods, business requirements, and software engineering together without falling into traditional platform or infrastructure work. The right candidate will help turn individual PoCs into a coherent applied AI design system that accelerates the enterprise’s AI maturity.
Candidate Profile:The ideal candidate will possess a blend of skills across system design, software engineering, AI engineering, data science, and cloud infrastructure. Experience in product management is crucial to understand the underlying needs of the Business. This role requires a visionary leader who can navigate complex stakeholder landscapes, including ELT members and ELT-1 stakeholders, and clearly connect and articulate the value of the work done to Pfizer’s mission, to drive strategic AI initiatives forward.

Define and steward internal solution patterns, templates, and reusable components for common AI use cases (e.g. document understanding, predictive modeling, LLM-driven interfaces)
Own the AI solution evaluation methodology: metrics, harnesses, and guardrails for performance, safety, and reproducibility
Collaborate with Applied AI Engineering and AI Innovation teams to extract reusability from PoCs and experimental work
Partner with the Enterprise Architecture team to ensure alignment with enterprise architectural principles—without duplication
Champion internal enablement by producing high-quality documentation, onboarding guides, and exemplar projects
Represent the team in technical design reviews and architecture governance boards as needed
