Director, Advanced Operations
**Basic Function** ​​Direct a multi-site, multi-divisional team of leaders, program managers and technical experts to drive the development of all new products & platform technologies in line with divisional portfolios. Contribute to the leadership and development of the Global Advanced Operations function through innovative and lateral thinking with a view to increasing the pace and effectiveness of product innovation. Develop strong working relationships with Product Development, Marketing and CQR functions and within the manufacturing plants. Drives adherence to divisional / corporate design control procedures.​ **Responsibilities** + Senior member of AO leadership team. Direct the formulation and implementation of strategic initiatives to help drive the overarching strategic plan and future direction of the organization. + Establish a network of key divisional/corporate leaders, academics and supplier partners to facilitate the development and success of the innovation function. + Partner with divisions to accurately resource & prioritize all new product activities. + Actively engage divisional and GQO organizations to deliver new products in line with divisional expectations. Develop and maintainappropriate business forums and process improvement initiatives. + Direct the product innovation teams to work effectively and build collaborative relationships across multiple divisions to improve the speed to market of new products. + Develop and maintain the functions performance, ensuring learning and development needs are aligned with product roadmaps. + Foster a culture of collaboration between the global AO teams to ensure that key skill sets can be leveraged when required to ensure projects are managed effectively and delivered in line with divisional expectations. + Ensure a “best practice” NPI approach is being utilized in product launch performance and establish measures to enhance the pace of innovation. + Provide direction to the team in complex or difficult situations, remove obstacles, assign appropriate resources and interface across the network to assist with issue resolution. + Partner with HR to build a highly engaged talented product innovation, multi-site team. + Responsible for the implementation, enforcement and compliance of all relevant quality, regulatory and safety standards. + Manage annualized expense and capital budgets for all divisions. + All other duties as assigned. **Physical Requirements** + ​​​Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, etc. Generally involves sitting most of the time. + ​Must be able to communicate with large groups of people. + ​Must be able to communicate telephonically. + ​Must be able to use common office equipment (e.g. calculators, PC, telephone, etc.).​ **Mental Requirements** + ​​Must be able to generate and explain extremely detailed proposals, guidelines and procedures. + ​Must be able to analyze and resolve complex process development issues of a broad scope using independent judgement. + ​Must be able to observe and correct minute inconsistencies (e.g. in the printed word, product appearance, etc.).​ **Qualifications/Work Experience Preferred** + ​​8 - 10 years broad based business experience in high performance, multi-national enterprise, at least 5 years of which has been spent at operations and/or technical leadership level in Medical Devices or other highly regulated industry + ​Strong manufacturing operations and business training ideal. + ​Strong interpersonal, communication, influencing and presentation skills essential. + ​Individual must possess strong leadership skills, proven ability to coach and mentor individuals in technical skills and people development areas. The individual should enjoy working in a dynamic and results driven team based environment with flexibility essential. + ​Strong capability to network and influence at divisional and corporate level and with external agencies and partners. Capability to effectively lead division wide, multi-site initiatives. + ​Demonstrated leadership, project management and engineering experience in new product introduction in a regulated environment preferred. + ​Demonstrated performance in successful leadership of manufacturing and/or engineering teams in new product introduction in a regulated environment. + ​Self-starter with demonstrated efficient work methods, analytical & problem solving skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast paced environment. + ​Strong knowledge in project management tools essential. Strong analytical skills with a high problem solving and process improvement orientation critical. + ​Requires an analytical, logical and strategic thought process. + ​Excellent PC skills (MS Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Project). + ​Excellent attention to detail. **Education/Special Training Required** ​B.S. in Engineering, Science or business discipline required or a related master’s degree.
