Sr. Medical Director – Infectious Disease – Onsite in Chantilly, VA
Quest Diagnostics is looking for a Senior Medical Director of Infectious Disease to lead
clinical strategies and innovation across our infectious disease testing portfolio.
In this role, you’ll bring deep expertise in infectious diseases and clinical diagnostics to
shape and advocate for the Quest Diagnostics strategy for new test development, clinical
quality, regulatory approval, and guide commercial teams with scientific insights.
You’ll be a key voice across Clinical Franchises, R&D, regulatory, operations, and
marketing. You will advocate to ensure our diagnostics help patients get faster, more
accurate answers when they need them most.
Oversee testing in collaboration with other doctoral scientific directors at one of our flagship esoteric Infectious disease laboratories which includes Bacteriology, Mycology, Parasitology, Mycobacteriology, Molecular infectious diseases and serology.Provide clinical oversight on design of result reportingProvide clinical leadership for infectious disease assays — from development through launchDevelop a strategy in collaboration with the Scientific Directors of Infectious disease for the short- and long-term vision for new infectious disease assay developmentPartner with R&D and Regulatory teams on for Infectious disease assay development including clinical validations and submissions to meet regulatory requirements (FDA, CLIA, CAP, CLEP)Partner closely with various Subspecialty teams, product managers, sales and marketing staff to provide advice and guidance regarding medical, scientific, business and policy decisions involving infectious disease testingInteract with collaborators in academic medical centers and health systems to improve the quality of infectious disease testingFacilitate and consult on the involvement of infectious disease testing in new clinical research proposals and advise senior management regarding potential collaboration with industryCollaborate and co-author Abstracts, manuscripts and White Papers,Serve as a trusted medical advisor to internal teams, healthcare providers, and external partnersSupport scientific communication, education, and medical marketing initiativesCollaborate with the team to identify new trends in infectious disease diagnostics and drive innovative projectsExperience with driving change management and supporting technology roll outsAttend national and local meetings to maintain and build knowledge in Infectious Disease, represent Quest Diagnostics and drive the vision for the departmentExperience working in a matrixed environment a plus. Provide support for Employee Health Services as related to infectious disease.
MD or DO requiredBoard Certification in Infectious Disease and Internal Medicine10-15 years clinical infectious disease experience; 2-5 years in diagnostics, life sciences, or lab testing industriesDeep knowledge of clinical lab operations, infectious disease testing (molecular infectious disease, serology, microbiology, mycology, virology, immunology, parasitology), and regulatory pathwaysStrong communicator who can bridge clinical expertise with business needsPassion for improving patient care through science and innovation
