Dillon’s is looking for a Civil Engineering co-op student to join our multidisciplinary team of professionals. You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects within Kingston and across Ontario while gaining valuable exposure and experience in the consulting engineering industry.
This position is based out of our Kingston office.

Design and coordination
Assist project managers with multi-disciplinary projectsAssist in the preparation of engineering designs including:Engineering studiesTechnical specificationsDesign calculationsDrafting of ongoing and new projects using CAD softwareComplete design activities to maintain project schedules and ensure successful project completionAssist with site investigations and condition assessmentsAssist with contract administration tasks including construction layout, construction observation, contractor submittal review, progress payment preparation and responding to requests for information Complete review of safe work practices and performing risk assessments for employee tasksCollaborate with multidisciplinary team membersContribute to business development activities including client need research, preparation of project proposals and presentationsContribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committeesBusiness travel to other Dillon offices upon requestParticipation in the Early Career Development program

Commit to self-development and ongoing learning and professional developmentContribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees Qualifications Currently enrolled in an Engineering program at Queen's University.One to two years’ co-op or work experience with exposure to consulting is considered an asset Experience Knowledge of relevant municipal/provincial engineering standards, regulatory requirements, industry standards, specifications and good engineering practices will be considered an assetUnderstand project design and implementation activities, including: development of design drawings and reports, contract document preparation, tendering and contract administration will be considered an assetProficient in the use of current AutoCAD software; working knowledge of Civil 3D, Microstation, OpenRoads Designer or InRoads software will be considered an assetStrong verbal and written communication, organization and interpersonal skills
