Digital Customer Experience Journey
Our organization is evolving its digital customer experience and translating the objective of being the easiest to do business with into a sustainable technology roadmap. This transformation includes upgrading our technology stack, augmenting our teams, developing new digital platforms, and integrating a best-in-class eCommerce operating model to deliver exceptional customer experiences—from design planning to order delivery. These digital services are built on improved data and process models and will be available to customers across the US, Canada, and LATAM.
Role Summary
The Digital Platform Architect is a hands-on, coding architect responsible for designing and overseeing the development of foundational technology infrastructure that supports software applications and services. This role values simplicity and challenges technical constraints to achieve pragmatic design. The architect runs early Proof of Concepts (POCs) for validation and contributes significantly to team commitments, focusing on the most critical problems.
This individual is both an executor and a visionary, responsible for planning and developing the architectural runway in collaboration with the Director of Data and Platform Architecture. They ensure scalability, reliability, and efficiency of data systems, enabling seamless data integration, processing, and analysis to drive informed decision-making across the organization.
This is a hybrid role based in Chicago, IL. Onsite on Tuesday and Thursdays to collaborate as a team. Minimal travel may be required.
Team Overview
The Data and Platform Architecture team provides cross-platform support and ensures seamless dataflows across the organization. Their primary responsibility is to design and maintain integration approaches that align with enterprise architecture and product teams. This enables efficient and secure data integration, processing, and availability for various business needs.
The team fosters a robust data ecosystem that supports informed decision-making, enhances operational efficiency, and drives business growth through effective data management and analytics. They collaborate closely with product teams to understand data requirements and design solutions that meet those needs.
Key Responsibilities
System & Architecture Design: Develop scalable, reliable, and efficient data architectures.
Data Pipeline Management: Design and maintain robust, high-performance data pipelines.
Integration & Processing: Ensure seamless integration of data from various sources.
Analytics Infrastructure: Build infrastructure to support advanced analytics and BI.
Performance Optimization: Identify and resolve bottlenecks in data systems.
Governance & Security: Implement frameworks for data quality, integrity, and compliance.
Collaboration: Work with IT, data science, and business units to deliver solutions.
POC Development: Lead hands-on coding for validations, integrations, and frameworks.
Key Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or related field.
Advanced degrees or certifications in data architecture or engineering are a plus.
Required Skills
7+ years as a developer on cross-functional agile teams or as a platform architect.
Proven experience designing and implementing data architectures.
Proficiency in data processing frameworks (e.g., Apache Spark, Apache Kafka).
Experience with API management.
Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes (AKS), GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, Terraform.
Deep understanding of MACH architecture (Microservices, API-first, Cloud-native, Headless).
Expertise in ETL processes and tools.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication.
Strong collaboration skills across technical and business teams.
Preferred Skills
Certifications in data architecture, engineering, or cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP).
Experience with data streaming and producer/consumer patterns.
Knowledge of data governance and compliance standards.
Experience implementing data security measures.
Familiarity with Agile ceremonies and development practices.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $170000.00/yr.
