Ozarks First in Springfield, Missouri, is hiring a Digital Content Director.
We are looking for an experienced leader, an inspirational innovator, and a prolific writer. This is a role for someone with excellent editorial judgement who is self-motivated, data-driven, collaborative, and a confident decision maker.
The DCD will be responsible for updating our website and apps, overseeing all our social media platforms, and being involved in the development and management of our streaming app.
You will be expected to organize and prioritize daily and weekly digital content and social media strategies. In addition, you will develop a long-term digital content strategy based on best practices, current data, market trends, and industry research.
The DCD is a leader who can coach a team and individual content creators. You will be expected to establish and manage clear expectations for every member of the team. That includes Digital Producers, Anchors, Reporters, and Meteorologists.
Position Responsibilities:
Focused on surpassing monthly and yearly video and pageview goals.Prolific writer who goes above and beyond individual expectations.Manages the website, apps, social media accounts, and original streaming shows.Curate and aggregate a steady stream of interesting content from the wire and other sourcesMonitor all forms of media and sources of information within the newsroom, and be quick to report breaking newsStresses and communicates the need for both urgency and accuracy with digital contentAlways on the hunt for exclusive and or trending content that will grow engagement and drive loyal, local trafficAttends all editorial meetings, leading the discussion and sharing new information and trends during editorial meetings.Identify and prioritize stories and content for the digital team and help with editorial decision-makingReview and copyedit the work of othersCreate videos and help produce streaming showsPost to station-branded social media accountsEvaluate website traffic trends to make decisions on both daily content needs and longer-term decisions that will grow the audienceproduce homepage, including layout and order of storiesEnsure content is distributed across all digital platforms as neededEvaluates website traffic trends to make decisions on both daily content and longer-term content development to grow the digital audienceResponsible for planning and implementing special coverage projects, including elections and any additional digital events throughout the year.Expert at promoting news content on social media and utilizing social channels to enhance the brand.Flexibility to perform additional duties as needed, including covering other digital roles during absencesSkills & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or a similar field of studyExperience as a newsroom leader preferredKnowledge of SEO best practices, AP Style, and analytics toolsExcellent at writing headlines and stories that increase pageviewsOrganized, technical problem solver, and quick decision makerEngages with the team and has excellent interpersonal skillsEase with/ability to learn new technology independently and quicklyAbility to take direction and quickly implement new ideasComfortable adapting to changes in an evolving industry and thrives under pressureSelf-motivated, competitive spirit with the ability to balance multiple competing projects and prioritiesSchedule flexibility.
