Yes Job Summary The Career Development Center is seeking a Digital Communications Specialist. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE ), 12-month, professional faculty position. The Digital Communications Specialist is part of an internal creative services team that supports the marketing and communication needs of Integrated Support & Development (IS&D) at Oregon state University, with a particular focus on the services and programs of the Career Development Center ( CDC ) and New Student Onboarding ( NSO ). Reporting to the IS&D Director of Marketing and Communications, the specialist plays a pivotal role in supporting, coordinating, and managing communications, and leading the creation of strategic digital content for the CDC & NSO . Integrated Support & Development is a collection of departments within Oregon State University’s Division of Student Affairs that works to ensure support for students’ personal, professional, and academic growth is integrated throughout their university experience. These departments include the Career Development Center ( CDC ), Office of Academic Success ( OAS ), Academics for Student Athletes ( ASA ), New Student Onboarding ( NSO ) and Cross Campus Strategic Initiatives ( CCSI . This position is a digital storyteller, responsible for creating and executing a comprehensive video content strategy for the CDC & NSO . This includes providing leadership to student staff members who create social and video content as well as directly creating high-impact creative and instructional video content. As a member of the marketing & communications team, the specialist will work closely with the director to manage projects and campaigns that support the communications objectives of IS&D and foster meaningful engagement with students, faculty, employers, alumni, and affinity groups to support student success and build wide-reaching university relationships. Major initiatives include amplifying key programs and events, such as new student onboarding and career fairs; increasing awareness of resources for students and faculty; and expanding outreach to create inclusive, accessible opportunities. Key Responsibilities 40% – Strategic Content Creation + Responsible for developing and implementing the strategic direction of digital content. + Develops and executes multimedia content including creative and instructional videos, compelling social media graphics, and written copy designed to resonate with target audiences. + Drives the creation of a video content strategy that includes a mix of both informative and engaging content for YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn and other social media platforms. + Tracks and evaluates the performance of digital outreach campaigns and social media activity. Compiles reports to measure impact and offers insights backed by data to support ongoing optimization and growth. + Keeps informed on emerging industry trends and evolving best practices in multimedia content production to ensure content remains current and effective. 35% Marketing & Communications Project Management + Lead marketing and communications projects, including oversight of web, print, email and social media projects, from initial scope to completion as assigned by the Director of Marketing & Communications + In consultation with the Director of Marketing & Communications, work to assign and complete the campaigns and creative projects initiated by the unit or requested by department partners + Address marketing and communications inquiries and projects in the Director of Marketing & Communications absence, to ensure effective and efficient workflow and provide quality service to the NSO & CDC . 15% Lead Work & Supervision – oversee student content creators + Oversee a student marketing & communications team, in collaboration with the Director of Marketing & Communications + Coach and mentor students with the focus of enhancing their career readiness and professional development + Ensure that all projects align with best practices, departmental guidelines and OSU brand standards 5% – Cross-Unit Support & Consultation + Serve as an in-house video consultant for other units within IS&D, providing expertise and video content creation. + Build relationships with unit leaders to promote and ensure collaboration and partnership opportunities for marketing and communication efforts. 5% Professional development and Other Duties as Assigned + Represents CDC and NSO at division, university and community levels in areas such as committee work, program development, outreach events and community engagement. + Pursue professional development opportunities. + Other duties as assigned by supervisor What You Will Need + Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communications, Videography, Digital Communication Arts, or related field. + Progressive professional experience beyond entry level leading or supporting the development and implementation of digital communication strategies and tactics. + Demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity, such as the ability to build relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders. + Demonstrated strong decision-making skills, including setting priorities against established criteria and managing multiple projects/activities/deadlines + Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively with varied audiences such as faculty, students, parents/families, and industry partners. + Excellent communication skills; demonstrated ability to write, edit and create content for print and web publications + Demonstrated creativity and immersion in social media; an interest in trends and innovations marketing in platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and Facebook. + Demonstrated videography experience and familiarity with video editing software + Experience with creating content that adheres to best practices for accessibility and usability This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq.
