Trane in the Upper Midwest Region is hiring for a Digital Area Service Manager to join our team! In this role, you will be responsible for providing the leadership for all activities involving our Digital Services to include Repair, Upgrades/Enhancements, Service Agreements, and installation of new equipment lifetime of connectivity with that customer. Processes within that oversight include working with sales to provide timely support for all our Digital Services and service agreement pricing to customer support of sales through contract pricing on parts and service, field service coordination, technicians recruitment, training and development management of technicians, invoicing and collections, and customer satisfaction.

What you will do:
In this role, you will:
Own P&L performance by providing monthly revenue forecasting, driving growth of the digital service agreement base, and supporting digital growth in repairs/installation/service turnkey by partnering with the acquisition (sales) team.Control budgets and overhead by managing expenses against targets for items such as fleet, uniforms, tools, and safety equipment.
Mitigate risk by identifying, managing, and reducing risk across service agreements, service turnkey work, and repairs.
Lead service coordination and resource planning to ensure efficient customer response, balanced technician skill coverage, and effective resource utilization across the district. This includes emergency repair, preventative maintenance contracts, scheduled work and upgrades, installations, replacement components, and long-term service agreements.
Attract, coach, develop, and retain digital service talent by recruiting effectively and leading consistent coaching, counseling, training, and development of all digital service employees. Drive continuous improvement through performance management and available technical product training programs.
Ensure margin and cash performance by confirming margin expectations during sales and fulfillment, maximizing cash flow through timely invoicing at completion, managing expense budgets, and increasing utilization. Ensure standard service work processes are defined, adopted, and followed. Improve transactional processes that impact customer experience and overall satisfaction.
Champion EHS compliance by ensuring environmental, health, and safety compliance across the service team and providing training that supports a safe, productive work environment in the shop and at customer sites.
Travel to customer sites as needed (including outdoor work and/or mechanical/equipment rooms). During site visits, you may be exposed to variable weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, heights, and other environmental conditions based on location.
What you will bring:
5+ years of experience in HVAC BAS controls or a related technical field (technical systems/equipment/skilled trades).
3+ years of experience managing and coaching teams and organizing work schedules.
Project management capability to plan, coordinate, and drive successful execution for startups, customer requests, and service/installation deliverables.
Tech-savvy and organized, with proficiency in Microsoft applications; Salesforce experience is an asset.
Valid driver’s license (minimum 12 months) with no major or frequent traffic violations, including but not limited to: DUI, hit & run, license suspension, reckless/careless driving, or multiple smaller infractions/preventable collisions in the previous 3 years.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on BAS leader who combines strong operational ownership with deep field execution experience. You will have:
5+ years of experience in building automation installation and/or BAS-focused project management, including coordinating field execution, startups/commissioning, closeout, and customer handoff.
Proven people leadership experience leading BAS technicians and engineers, including assigning work, setting priorities, removing roadblocks, coaching performance, and developing technical capability across the team.
Strong execution discipline—able to manage multiple concurrent jobs, balance customer urgency with scheduling realities, and drive consistent quality and on-time delivery.
Cross-functional leadership skills to partner effectively with sales/acquisition, service coordination, engineering, and field operations to deliver customer outcomes and business results.
Comfort in the field—able to travel to job sites, engage directly with customers and technicians, and make practical, real-time decisions that keep work moving safely and profitably.
This role has been designated by the Company as Safety Sensitive.
Compensation:
Base Pay Range: $130,100 - $172,900
Additional Compensation: Incentive
